The Director of Customer Service at ECG says the company has raked in about GHS31 million from the mass disconnection exercise so far.

ECG in an unannounced fashion clamped down on customers who have engaged in power theft in the Tema North district of the Greater Accra region.

Speaking with 3 News, Kobina Attah Forson stated, that the company has made huge revenue gains since the inception of the exercise in the first quarter of the year.

“So this is a special exercise to protect our revenue, I know that we have been able to rake about GHS31 million. As at now that is the monies that we have been able to bring in as a result of people bypassing our meters.”

Kobina Forson also hinted that the nationwide disconnection exercise by the ECG will be routine to create awareness among the public about the dangers in power theft and moreover to clamp down on perpetrators of the act.

“We are continuing from the same process trying to inspect the meters and see whether people have not bypassed,” he said, noting that other areas within the Greater Accra region will be visited soon.
