As Ghanaians join the world to mark Valentine’s Day today, which is also celebrated as National Chocolate Day, the Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Henry Yeleduor, has encouraged Ghanaians to rather express their valentine’s love with a bar of chocolate rather than the usual indiscriminate sexual activities.
Mr. Henry Yeleduor who was speaking to Citi News at an organised free-chocolate and cocoa drink distribution bazaar at the Takoradi Mall said the Tourism Authority is encouraging the public to take to eating chocolate and cocoa to promote the nutritious Ghanaian cocoa hence the free distribution of cocoa products.
“The 2023 National Chocolate Day celebration is on the theme; Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy and Grow Ghana. If you look at the theme, we are saying that there are greater health values when you consume cocoa based-products which include chocolates. It improves your immune system, and it helps control the BP.”
“We want people to use chocolate as a symbol of love since February is known to be a month of love because of Valentine’s Day. So today we are expecting people to rather use Chocolate which is a cocoa-based product to show love and stay away from the traditional way of showing love through sex. This morning we are here at the Takoradi Mall to show this love to the general public. We know that since we are at the mall, people will also be encouraged to buy more cocoa products from the mall“, he said.
