Former France star Marcel Desailly has urged Ghanaian international Christian Atsu to be more active at the club level, as he expressed worry about the unstable nature of Christian Atsu’s club career so far.

The World and European Cup winner told 3FM 92.7 he is also not enthused that there are not enough Ghanaian players at a high level.

He told Yaw Ofosu Larbi. “They don’t play abroad, they are second choices, third choices just because the focus and the interest is the money from the beginning instead of building up knowledge and having a capacity. It’s not so bad we just have to structure it well.”

Though impressed by a few players, Desaily feels too many of the players are not at the right level including Black Stars midfielder Christian Atsu.

“We have too many players abroad. We have legitimate ones and top ones. I wish Atsu who has a great ability and capacity could at least play in his club. He has been moving around from Chelsea to Everton and now Malaga. I don’t know how well he’s doing there but I need him to be good. I believe in him. I believe in his capacity. Many others are stable in their club like Andre, like Jordan and it gives them experience of the high level but it is not enough. We need a lot more others who get involved at the high level of the game.”
