The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has postponed indefinitely the Evening Encounter for New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Nana Akufo-Addo was scheduled to address invited guests on Tuesday, July 5.

He was the third 2016 presidential candidate after People’s National Convention’s Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama and Convention People’s Party’s Ivor Kobina Greenstreet lined up for the Encounter.

But IEA says it will announce a new date for Nana Akufo-Addo soon. It is unclear what informed the decision.

The Evening Encounter is part of the IEA debate series to give parties the opportunity to address electorates ahead of the 2016 elections.

It features presidential candidates of parties that have representation in Parliament. They present abridged versions of their manifestos to specially invited audience.

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, however, will not be part as his party has officially stated its boycott of all IEA events.

Aside the Evening Encounters, the IEA also has a programme for vice presidential candidates and all other 2016 presidential candidates to address electorates .
