President John Mahama has indicated that he stands a very good chance of winning majority of votes in the Central Region if Ghanaians are to vote on trends.
The Central Region is noted for voting in a very particular pattern and trend which has seen them vote for different political parties after every four years.
The NDC is the last political party to have won in the region in 2012.
In an exclusive interview with Paul Adom Otchere on Good Evening Ghana, the President said if the voting trend is anything to go by, then he believes the people in the region will give him a second chance.
“With trend analysis, it depends on the factor you are looking at and I think that you are looking at the wrong factor,” he told host of the show Paul Adom Otchere.
“You say that in 1992 and 1996 they voted for Rawlings, then in 2000, 2004, they voted for [former] President Kufuor, they voted for President Mills in 2008 but unfortunately President Mills did not go a second term then they voted for me in 2012.
“So if they are doing twice for each candidate then it means in 2016 they will give me my second chance.”
“If you use that trend analysis based on Presidential candidacy then Central Region is going to vote for me in 2016.”
On how he intends to keep the electorates in the Region close to his chest in the upcoming elections, President Mahama rode on some of his government’s achievements such as the Komenda Sugar Factory, the ongoing Elmina Fish Processing Factory, Cape Coast Stadium and the Elmina Bridge amongst others in the area stating that he believes the people in the Region would be favourably disposed to his candidacy.
