Celebrated musician Kuami Eugene was involved in a car accident on Sunday night, sustaining various injuries.
The incident took place at 11:30 pm on Sunday at CP, close to the DSTV office, after Achimota Overhead towards the Dzowulu traffic light in Accra.
Witnesses reported that Kuami Eugene was driving a Range Rover with registration number GC-220-21 when it collided with a tipper truck that was moving slowly due to poor visibility caused by darkness and the absence of tail lights.
Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, the editor of Modern Ghana news portal, was present during the accident and immediately rushed to assist. He helped Kuami Eugene and his male passenger out of the vehicle before arranging transportation for them to the University Of Ghana Medical Centre.
He told Myjoyonline.com, “I was behind him, and so I was the first person to rush to his rescue. Kuami was struggling to come out so I brought him out of the car and helped the passenger too, before some guys also came around. I arranged for a vehicle to convey them to the UGMC hospital.”
Abugri attributes the accident to the inadequate lighting conditions on the N1 highway and the resulting poor visibility, which made it challenging for Kuami Eugene to detect the slow-moving tipper truck ahead.
Kuami Eugene sustained a broken arm, cuts on his lips, legs, and hips, along with blood on his hands. Despite the severity of the accident, reports indicate that the musician is in stable condition. Police officers from the Achimota Police Station responded to the scene and towed the car away. While the male passenger did not display any visible physical injuries, he complained of pain in his neck and back.
