President John Mahama and his National Democratic Congress-led government are promising pupils in basic schools across the country, tablet computers pre-installed with textbooks in his second term .
Giving highlights of the party’s 2016 manifesto ahead of its launch Saturday, President Mahama said the electronic textbook system will be piloted and if successful, rolled out.
“Students will receive tablets that have all their core subjects… If the pilot is successful, the programme shall be expanded,” he promised.
According to the president, his government has in the last four years distributed 100million text books, noting in some schools, only the teacher had textbooks.
He also promised to provide accommodation for teachers who will accept postings to rural areas to serve as incentive to those teachers.
