Mass resignation hits Cocoa Processing Company

Scores of workers at the Cocoa Processing Company in Tema are resigning over mismanagement of the company, TV3 has gathered.

The development comes barely three months, after the company shut down operations for maintenance works.

A source at the company says CPC is operating at a loss, a reason for which salaries on several occasions have been delayed without any explanation. Some of the workers have been compelled by the circumstance to desert the company.

The company’s staff strength which stood at 700 has dwindled to 200, TV3 has learnt.

According to sources, challenges such as the lack of beans are still crippling business at the CPC.

The workers are therefore calling for a merger between Cocoa Processing Company and Ghana Cocoa Board.

Attempts to reach management to react have proven futile. The Public Relations Manager, Ekow Rhule has also declined to comment.
