The Tema Regional Police Command has denied the issuance of an arrest warrant for the General Overseer of the International Godsway Church though it insists an invitation was extended to him last Friday.
Bishop Daniel Obinim was reported at the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service after videos of him flogging two members of his congregation went viral.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection reported him, triggering an investigation from the police.
But clarifying the correspondence between the Tema Command and the man of God on TV3‘s Midday Live, ASP Juliana Obeng, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said Friday’s invitation was binding on the bishop to make an immediate appearance.

ASP Obeng said a junior pastor, who was at his residence, received the invitation on behalf of Bishop Obinim with the full assurance that it will be delivered to him.
“As we speak, Bishop has not responded,” ASP Obeng said.
She said the police will meet to decide on the next line of action.
A human rights lawyer, Francis Xavier-Sosu, has taken up a case that seeks to declare the bishop’s action as a violation of the dignity of the victims.
