The New Patriotic Party’s 2016 Parliamentary Candidate for Krachi West Constituency, Kenneth Bagisan Jima, has been relieved of his position, a senior party official has confirmed.
Mr Bagisan Jima was sacked after being found guilty of several infractions of the party’s regulations.
Speaking on TV3’s News @10 on Sunday, June 26, NPP’s Volta Region Chairman John-Peter Amewu confirmed that the parliamentary candidate was removed from post due to gross indiscipline.
Mr Amewu explained that Mr Bagisan Jima’s actions and inactions in the constituency had the potential of affecting the chances of the party in the upcoming elections.
According to him, the sacked candidate had been previously made to sign bonds of good behavior for offences committed but he woefully failed to keep them.
Dr Amewu accused the candidate of hardly visiting the constituency since his election.
Asked if the development will not affect the chances of the party, the regional chairman said the decision was not a top-down decision but a bottom-up decision.
He explained that the decision was arrived at by constituency executives, adding that it is the super-structure of the party in the constituency that recommended such an action to be taken.
