Singer and songwriter Kwame Nsiah-Apau, professionally known as Okyeame Kwame, recently shed light on his collaboration with Kofi Kinaata in his latest track, ‘Sika.’
Speaking to thespectatoronline.com after the song’s release on March 4, 2024, Okyeame Kwame revealed his longstanding admiration for Kofi Kinaata’s work, expressing a desire to create a song together.
He emphasized Kinaata’s creative prowess and acknowledged him as a significant figure in the music industry.
Okyeame Kwame further highlighted Kofi Kinaata’s impressive achievements, notably winning the Songwriter of the Year award three times. He explained that Kinaata’s success motivated him to initiate a collaborative project, eager to tap into Kinaata’s unique perspective and writing skills. During the recording sessions, Okyeame Kwame praised Kinaata’s intelligence, describing him as having “common sense” and being exceptionally smart in his musical approach.
“I wanted to know what is in that head, and I called him for us to do a song together, and during the recording sessions, I realized why he is a great writer, ‘the boy get common sense period’. Very intelligent, very smart, he has learned the trick and the trade,” he said.
Known as the Rap Doctor, Okyeame Kwame emphasized the importance of collaborating with Kofi Kinaata, someone he deeply respects. Explaining the theme behind ‘Sika,’ Okyeame Kwame clarified that the song seeks to motivate listeners to pursue financial success in the future.
He said, “It is who I have become currently, most of the things I do is to seek to bring out difficult times and triumphant moments, from poverty to riches.”
