National Sports Authority speaks on Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy stadium booking saga

0

The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi has in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb stated that none of Stonebwoy nor Shatta Wale has booked the Accra Sports Stadium for a concert yet.

According to him, both artistes are still in the process of getting the contract signed for the stadium to be used for a concert but nothing has been decided yet as to who gets the contract.

His comment comes on the back of Shatta Wale’s claim that he has been told Stonebwoy will do his show this year and his own will have to be done next year due to the clash of the dates for the same venue.

Speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Prof. Peter Twumasi refuted the claims by Shatta Wale and reiterated that the National Sports Authority has not signed a contract with any of the artistes yet for a show to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“If the sports authority is helping them and they are creating problems for me? The two of them, none of them has a contract with us [Natioanal Sports Authority]. We are just helping to support their industry. We are yet to sign a contract, so don’t bother too much. For now, they are going through the process of getting the contract with the NSA, it’s not even done yet,” he said.

“If you write a letter and request for a space then we will look at it and see whether we can offer you or not but we don’t have authority over what we can offer and what we cannot. We are thinking that stadium is a multi-purpose in use and over the years we have been accommodating them [artistes] bit by bit so it shouldn’t create any controversies unless they are just using it to promote their shows,” he told GhanaWeb.

Background

In expressing his fury over a supposed decision by the National Sports Authority to allow Stonebwoy to host a show at the Accra Sports Stadium on a date he (Shatta Wale) is also scheduled to hold an event at the same venue, the Dancehall musician indicated that the action was taken without a critical analysis of the possible consequence which includes violence.

A 40-minute Facebook live video on Tuesday which captured his fury as he narrated his side of the story saw the Shatta Movement boss chastising the authorities for acting inappropriately.

Shatta Wale and Medikal had previously announced plans for their annual Freedom Wave Festival, scheduled to run from December 20 to 25.

The festival’s activities, as outlined in a flyer released on September 7, 2023, included the arrival of regional fan bases on December 20, an exhibition of SM merchandise on the 21st, a pre-concert featuring new artists on the 22nd, industry prayers on the 23rd, artist dress rehearsals on the 24th, and the climax of the festival on the 25th.

However, Stonebwoy on September 16 also released the flyer for his Bhim Concert to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on 22nd December.

This stoked conversation with many people wondering how both artistes would have their respective events at the same venue on the same day.

On Tuesday, Shatta Wale accused President Akufo-Addo’s daughter of orchestrating this situation. He insulted colleague Stonebwoy with some unprintable words and jabbed the president’s daughter for acting “foolishly”.

0

Chief Stylz, the manager of Stonebowy has broken the silence on Shatta Wale’s allegation on his artiste.

According to him, Shatta Wale is a “sociopathic liar” who was quick to run to social media to win “sympathy”.

He went on to state emphatically that, Shatta Wale tried to use legendary industry players like Lord Commey to sabotage Stonebwoy’s show having been the first to follow due process.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy set new fight; What we know about it

0

Shatta Wale has in the past few hours attacked his colleague in the industry Stonebwoy for allegedly trying to sabotage his upcoming Freedom Wave Concert with Medikal scheduled for December 25th.

According to Shatta Wale, he has booked the Accra Sports Stadium from the 20th to the 25th of December 2023 for his programme with each day having an activity.

Shatta mentioned that everything was going well until he was informed that the show couldn’t be held because Stonebwoy had booked the venue for his Bhim Nation concert on 22nd December.

In the last couple of hours, we have gone the extra mile to find out more about this new allegation from both camps.

We found out that:

  1. Stonebwoy’s show date for the show was meant to be on the 23rd of December but he had to change the date to the 22nd to allow Shatta Wale and his team to get the grounds prepared for their concert.
  2. It was alleged that Shatta Wale despite choosing the venue for his concert was yet to make payment for the venue and it was at the point of payment that he was informed that Stonebwoy had paid for the place on 22nd December.
  3. Though Shatta Wale had activities lined up for the period, it was alleged that all those other activities were going to happen outside the main stadium and not inside as some people claim.
  4. The claim by Shatta Wale that it was the President’s daughter who asked that the stadium be handed to Stonebwoy for his concert has been challenged by some people citing that the National Sports Authority has the sole right on who to use their venues and the president’s daughter has no say.

As it stands now the above reasons are all allegations from both camps and we are making frantic efforts to ascertain the truth which will be shared with our readers when we finally confirm them.

Stonebwoy is yet to make an official statement on the allegations levelled against him by Shatta Wale.

I’m still paying Ebony Reigns’ debt – Bullet claim

0

The manager of the late Ebony, Ricky Nana Agyemang, popularly known as Bullet has shared the financial difficulties he has been facing since the tragic death of iconic singer Ebony Reigns.

Speaking in a recent interview on UTV’s United Showbiz, Bullet opened up about the contractual complications that have left him burdened with the responsibility of repaying Midas Touch Records following Ebony’s untimely demise.

The original contract did not account for such an unforeseen event.

Bullet stated unequivocally; “I have not yet finished paying Midas Touch Records for the contract we signed for Ebony.”

As we speak now, I still owe Midas Touch Records, and I am still paying for it because the contract was supposed to run for some number of years for which they (Midas Touch) will share proceeds from the works of the artists, but we all know what happened.”

These revelations come amidst allegations of occultism following a car accident involving one of Bullet’s signees, Wendy Shay.

The CEO of RuffTown Records debunked these claims, stressing that during his earlier struggles, such notions were far from his mind.

He declared, “It would be wrong for anyone to say that I am into occultism because when I was suffering, I didn’t even think about that and will be stupid to do that now when God is blessing me now.” he said.

Musician Ebony Reigns died at the age of 21 in a fatal car accident.

The Afrobeat and Dancehall performer – real name Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng – was driving to Accra following a trip to Sunyani with two friends.

Video: Emotional moment as Odehyieba Priscilla cries on live TV, begging her runaway father to come back

0

It was an intensely emotional moment when a teen sensational gospel artist, Odehyieba Priscilla, was asked about her father in an interview she granted with Delay.

The young singer has in the last few months been speaking about how painful life has been for her anytime she thinks about growing up with her father playing any role in her life.

According to her account, the older siblings are close to their father, he lived with them, but the narrative has not been the same in her case. But she has been abandoned so much that throughout her sixteen years of being on this planet, she’s seen her father, Kofi Agyemang, twice and is bent on meeting him to ask questions and if possible, turn things around.

She first saw her father at Wassa Akropong and saw him for the second time in her teens when she had risen to fame. At the time, she was twelve and was launching her project. She did not invite the father but he found his way to the event held in Kumasi.

During her interview on the Delay Show aired on September 18, 2022, Odehyieba Priscilla was emotional. She shed tears profusely in answering some of the questions and in a few instances, she flashed a smile.

Delay then offered her an opportunity to say something to her father, as it was likely that he would get to watch the interview.

Odehyieba Priscilla began to cry and begged her father to come back to them.

She stressed that her father should not hold grudges against them as their children even if their mother probably did something against him to get him to leave their home.

With tears flowing down her cheeks, she appealed: “Even if it’s my mother’s mistake, you have to let it go and look for me. You don’t even know where I live but you know you have a child. I told myself I would never look for him but Bishop Adonteng Boateng told me that I have to. So, I’m waiting for the day I’ll meet you.”

“After the event, he came to our house and said we should let bygones be bygones but my mother rejected it on the grounds that she was not informed of his coming. There was an altercation and he left,” she said while adding “I know he is at Pankrono but I don’t know where exactly the house is.”

Ghanaians excited over Lasmid’s decision not to sign to Naira Marley’s label

0

Ghanaians have expressed enthusiasm regarding Lasmid‘s unexpected choice not to sign with Naira Marley‘s Marlian Music Record.

This unusual development began gaining attention when Naira Marley visited Ghana and expressed a strong interest in bringing Lasmid on board as part of Marlian Music.

During an interview on Hitz FM’s “Daybreak Hitz” with Andy Dosty, Naira Marley spoke favorably about Lasmid’s music and expressed his eagerness to have Lasmid join his Marlian Music record label, alongside artists like Zinoleesky and Mohbad.

This announcement generated considerable excitement initially, with fans and industry insiders eagerly anticipating the signing.

However, the much-anticipated signing never materialized, leading to speculation and curiosity about the reasons behind this change of plans. As the mystery surrounding Lasmid’s decision deepened, the music community faced an unexpected tragedy that added further complexity to the situation.

The unexpected and tragic death of MohBad, a former artist associated with Marlian Music, sent shockwaves throughout the music industry, triggering concerns and even accusations. Some speculated that his passing might have been connected to disputes over music rights that allegedly arose following his departure from the record label.

In the aftermath of MohBad’s untimely demise, the perspective on Lasmid’s decision not to sign with Marlian Music took on a new significance.

Many Ghanaians began to view Lasmid’s choice as a fortunate escape, speculating that had he signed with the label, he might have encountered similar challenges and disputes over his music rights, mirroring the alleged issues that MohBad faced during his tenure with Marlian Music.

Lasmid, in response to the tragic news, extended his condolences for MohBad’s passing and alluded to the existence of a collaboration between them that may never see the light of day.

This revelation sparked a surge of interest and emotions among fans. While some have called on Lasmid to release the unreleased collaboration as a tribute to MohBad, others recognize the complexity of the situation and respect Lasmid’s decision, understanding that it involves more than meets the eye.
