Prophet Kumchacha and Socrate Safo have been captured in a heated argument over who best fits the country’s presidential position or has excelled during their tenure.

Halfway through a discussion on Okay FM, these two individuals who tried to portray their respective governments in a good light ended up slamming each other.

Kumchacha, a presidential hopeful cum NDC sympathizer, and Socrate Safo, an appointee of the current NPP-led administration flared up whiles boasting about the achievements of their governments.

Prophet Kumchacha, while ironing out his points, vowed to leave Ghana for abroad and quit his pastoral profession should the NPP regain power.

“If NPP members regain power in this forthcoming 2024 elections, I will relocate from this country. I am telling you the truth. I will stop being a pastor as well. Either they vote for me, Kyiri Abossom, or President Mahama,” he stated.

However, Socrate Safo, insisted that former president Mahama has nothing better to offer Ghanaians.

While making his submissions, he described Kumchacha as a ‘hungry man’ who is speaking out of desperation.

“When I look at the person talking and all that he is saying, it only tells me one thing. He is thinking about his stomach only. Mahama is not new to us. What has John Mahama been able to do for you? We all saw him when he was in power. What did he do that will make us bring him back?

“Are you okay? When he was president and unemployment was high the economy was in a mess, and people were complaining, he said he wasn’t a magician to solve such problems. And you want this person back here? Are you correct? What did he do for you? You are following him yet you are hungry.” he fumed.

Peeved with Socrate’s rants, Kumchacha replied: “I can look after you and your family. Withdraw your statement now! Who is hungry? I have been in this job for 25 years. You are with the NPP in power, yet you are hungry. You are a very wicked person. Don’t spew rubbish. There is nothing wrong if he wants to come back. He is also a human being.”

Popular Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has advised men to prioritise their personal growth and careers over casual relationships and sex.

In a Twitter post on September 10, Prince David Osei acknowledged that there’s nothing wrong with engaging in romantic or sexual relationships but emphasized that it becomes concerning when these pursuits overshadow long-term goals and aspirations.

He further stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between personal lives and ambitions, especially for young men. Noting that success demands discipline and focus.

“Brother, don’t put your head on Delilah’s lap, don’t get caught up in Delilah’s trap, man. That’s where big dreams go to die! Don’t swap your fate for a quick roll in the hay. Time to leave that comfort zone and conquer the world. Don’t let sex chain you down, bro; the world’s your oyster. Reach for greatness. Stay alert, bro! Stay woke, fam,” he posted.

Prince David Osei further encouraged men not to worry about their significant others leaving them when they embark on new paths. Adding that any woman truly in love with a man will offer unwavering support for his progress.

“Don’t stress over your girl, wife… If she’s the one, she’ll hold it down for you. Too many dudes parking their potential ’cause they’re afraid their woman will bounce,” he added.

Official death toll in Morocco earthquake rises to 2,122

0

The official death toll in the Morocco earthquake has tragically risen to 2,122, marking the deadliest earthquake in the country in over six decades.

The disaster, which struck a remote cluster of mountainous villages south of Marrakesh on Friday, has left more than 2,421 people injured, with many in critical condition.

As the nation grapples with the aftermath of the 6.8-magnitude tremor, a race against time ensues to save survivors buried under the rubble. Emergency services are facing significant challenges, including the difficulty of reaching remote areas and the urgent need for heavy machinery to assist in rescue efforts.

In the affected villages, resilient villagers continue to dig tirelessly by hand and shovel, desperately searching for survivors. However, the lack of adequate equipment hinders their progress. Tragically, the same tools may soon be required to prepare graves for the thousands of lives lost in this devastating quake.

The situation on the ground according to Reuters is dire, with people left with nothing. Starvation and a desperate need for water afflict many, particularly children. They cry out for help as they endure the aftermath of this catastrophic event.

The earthquake’s impact extends far beyond the epicenter, with Marrakesh’s historic old city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, suffering damage. In response to the immense scale of devastation, King Mohammed VI declared three days of national mourning, and the royal palace has deployed civil protection units to bolster blood banks, water, food, tents, and blankets.

Yet, reaching the most severely affected regions remains a challenge due to blocked roads and difficult access, especially during the critical hours immediately following the earthquake. Fallen rocks have further impeded travel into the High Atlas Mountains, where many of the worst-affected areas are located.

In Amizmiz, a small town in the mountains, numerous buildings have been reduced to rubble, and the local hospital is deemed unsafe. Patients are receiving treatment in tents on the hospital grounds, but the overwhelmed staff faces the emotional toll of dealing with around 100 bodies brought in on Saturday, including young children.

The streets are filled with rubble, heavy traffic, and the displaced residents who have lost their homes. While some have received tents for shelter, many others are left without protection from the elements, sleeping on rugs laid on the ground in the central square.

Residents in nearby villages have resorted to preparing crude graves marked with sticks and stones for their loved ones, as official support has yet to reach them. International efforts to aid the recovery are gaining momentum, with countries like the UK, Spain, Qatar, France, the US, and Turkey offering assistance, including emergency response teams, medical aid, and search and rescue resources.

Caroline Holt of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies emphasized the critical nature of the next two to three days for finding survivors trapped under the rubble. The world is rallying to support Morocco in this time of dire need as the nation confronts the devastating aftermath of this earthquake.

Thousands feared dead as flooding sweeps Libya

0

Thousands of people are feared dead after a powerful storm triggered devastating flooding in Libya.

The leader of the east Libyan government, which is not recognized internationally, said deaths exceeded 2,000 and thousands were missing.

Jalel Harchaoui, a Libya specialist, told the BBC the death toll could reach as many as “several thousand” people.

Storm Daniel made landfall on Sunday, prompting authorities to declare a state of extreme emergency.

Seven Libyan army personnel went missing during ongoing rescue efforts.

Officials in the east imposed a curfew, while schools and shops were ordered to close

The eastern cities of Benghazi, Sousse, Derna and Al-Marj were all affected.

As well as the rising death toll, the Libyan Red Cross said that at least 150 homes had been destroyed.

The head of the Red Crescent humanitarian network said at least 150 deaths had occurred in Derna alone, according to news agency Reuters.

Two dams in Derna – home to approximately 100,000 people – reportedly collapsed, submerging much of the area and drowning some residents.

Authorities consequently declared the port a “disaster city”.

Eastern Prime Minister Osama Hamad told a Libyan television channel: “The missing are in the thousands, and the dead exceed 2,000… entire neighbourhoods in Derna have disappeared, along with their residents … swept away by water.”

Mr Hamad did not give a source for his figures.

Alongside areas in the east, the western city of Misrata was among those hit by the floods.

Unverified videos of the storm have been circulating online, including a clip showing torrents of floodwater sweeping a man away. Other footage shows drivers trapped on their car roofs.

Alongside schools and shops, four major oil ports closed because of the storm.

While the Benghazi-based administration has been dealing with matters in the east of the country, the rival, internationally recognised government in the capital, Tripoli, has also been involved.

Its Prime Minister, Abdulhamid Dbeiba, said on Sunday that he had directed all state agencies to “immediately deal” with the damage and floods, while the United Nations in Libya said it was following the storm closely and would “provide urgent relief assistance in support of response efforts at local and national levels”.

Libya has been divided between two rival administrations since 2014, following the killing of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Both governments declared three days of mourning after Storm Daniel swept in.

Last week, it struck Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria, killing more than a dozen people.

Egypt was on Monday bracing itself for Storm Daniel and in the evening, the nation’s meteorological organisation said rainclouds had multiplied over the northwestern coast.

Climate scientists have warned that global warming means more water evaporating during the summer, leading to more intense storms.
