‘You can stay broke, I don’t Give a f**k’ – Sarkodie Subtly Jabs Samini

0

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has indirectly reacted to the ongoing feud between himself and Samini, establishing that all that matters to him is to make more money.

The multiple award-winning rapper, who appears unconcerned about Samini’s recent rants has taken to Snapchat to share some cryptic messages.

Samini, the multiple award-winning reggae/dancehall heavyweight has consistently complained about a bitter ordeal where he sought Sarkodie’s verse on a song and was declined.

He made this known sometime in January and has since spoken about it whenever topics pertaining to Sarkodie popped up.

Opening up old wounds once again, Samini, during an interview with Andy Dosty, shared concerns about Sarkodie’s unapologetic behaviour towards the issue.

“When he was asked about the issue, instead of him to brush the matter off, he acted like I was just ranting on the internet for no reason. What hurt me the most was that he kept on ignoring my messages. I kept asking ‘How far?’ but he never replied.

“So, it was painful that he waited until I had to bring the matter out into the public before he remembered what he had done. And if you’d respond, you being younger, and the fact that you remember exactly what happened, you should have applied wisdom in your response so you don’t fan my fury,” Samini explained.

However, Sarkodie, in a Snapchat post has expressed the importance of ignoring distractions.

According to him, it is impossible not to experience hate and a sense of entitlement from people, but it is important to ignore such things and focus on making money.

“You don’t want people to hate, feel entitled, bother you? Stay broke!! But you know what the good news is, you can still get the bag and not give AF,” he wrote.

UTV’s ‘United Showbiz is useless’ – NPP’s Owusu-Bempah

0

Ernest Owusu-Bempah, a Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has described UTV’s popular programme, “United Showbiz,” as a “useless show.”

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on October 1, 2023, Owusu-Bempah expressed his dissatisfaction with the content and tone of “United Showbiz,” suggesting that if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were in power and a similar show was airing to criticize the government, there would be a strong backlash from the youth.

He argued that participants on the show lacked purpose and used the platform to criticize the government, thereby tarnishing its image.

“Yes, they have been paid at the UTV program, why are you afraid? That showbiz program that they are doing, the useless program, and the NPP we are sitting down there?

“If it was NDC in power and NPP were doing such a program on TV, the youth would have ransacked the place. The NDC would have not given you a dog’s chance and people without any life sit there and attack the government as if there is no tomorrow.

“John Mahama is the alternative for the people of Ghana; if that is so, I will never believe in Ghana again,” he said.

It may recalled that, the National leadership of the NPP called out the management of UTV to reform their programme to ensure fairness in the submissions of panelists.

The leadership noted that submissions by panelists on the show tend to spite and lambast the government most of the time.

A Plus, a regular panelist on the programme, last weekend ripped apart his copy of the letter stating: “This letter is revolting because we have received calls from people threatening to collapse UTV United Showbiz.”

He added that 90% of the viewers of UTV were of the NPP stock… yet they praise them for the views they give on the station.

Petrol, LPG prices to go up marginally – IES

0

The Institute for Energy Security (IES) is projecting an increase in prices of all petroleum products, for the next pricing window, beginning the first week of October.

This is due to an increase in the international market price of petrol by 0.63%, diesel by 5.40%, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by 2.43%, as well as a 0.59% depreciation of the cedi against the U.S. dollar on the foreign exchange market during the last two weeks.

“The specific price increments expected for each petroleum product are as follows: Gasoline [petrol], approximately 1% per litre; Gasoil [diesel], approximately 3% per litre; and LPG, approximately 1.5% per kilogramme”, it explained.

World oil market

Brent Crude price experienced a lull on Thursday, September 28, 2023, after soaring to more than $97 per barrel on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as traders began to take profits and the markets’ macro focus shifted to increasing interest rates.

Higher interest rates historically have been detrimental to oil prices since they often result in decreased demand for oil due to declining activity and rising expenses. Interestingly, commodity analysts at Standard Chartered have argued that a hawkish Fed may actually be advantageous this time around because it will probably make OPEC+ producers more cautious for a longer period of time.

Local fuel market price

IES said amidst the global surge in the price of crude oil, leading to increased prices for refined products on the international fuels market, liquid fuels on the Ghanaian market remained relatively stable during the last pricing window.

Specifically, regarding liquid fuels, it said petrol prices remained unchanged among Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) that were monitored.

However, OMCs, including Star Oil, Zen Petroleum, Benab Oil, and So Energy, increased the price of Gasoil by an average of about ¢0.40 per litre.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also experienced an increment in price of about GH¢0.40 per kilogramme.

‘God will deal with Henry Quartey’ – Ken Agyapong alleges land racketeering by minister

0

Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong has alleged that fellow MP for Ayawaso Central, Henry Quartey is engaged in illegal sale of lands in the capital, Accra.

Quartey who also doubles as Greater Accra Regional Minister was the subject of a threat by Agyapong who said he is currently the victim of one such sale because the transaction is currently in court.

The two are known to be allies until recently when the minister reportedly declared support for the flagbearership bid of vice president Bawumia and went on to allegedly make disparaging comments of Agyapong, who is also a contender in the four-man race scheduled for November 4.

“Henry Quartey, because of the big positions I secured for him, today he claims he is a regional minister with all the lands he has stolen in Accra.

“I recently warned him to keep his mouth shut over lands he has sold, including one that he sold to me for US$200,000 around UPSA, which has become the subject of litigation,” Agyapong told a gathering believed to be in the United States, where he held a recent campaign tour.

“When you wanted to buy a house for your second wife in America, I helped you to secure a loan at Adom Africa market, where was Bawumia?

“Today, he refers to me as a crazy MP who wants to become president. God will deal with Henry Quartey. If he plays with me, the things I would disclose about him,” the Assin Central MP threatened.

Quartey is the latest New Patriotic Party (NPP) member to be caught in Agyapong’s booms. Others include Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Ashanti Regional Chair of the NPP, Chairman Wontumi and the national executives of the party.

Kennedy Agyapong, a known critic of corruption in the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government is on record as saying the looting by NPP is of such a magnitude that makes it extremely concerning adding that the stolen funds were being stashed abroad.

“The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow. You steal all this money and stash same abroad, what do you mean?” he is heard stating in a video clip that has been shared widely on social media.

“The youth of this country are not working yet you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he stressed.

GhanaWeb checks show that he made the comments in the United States during his recent campaign trip ahead of the NPP’s November 4 flagbearership contest.

Agyapong, a Member of Parliament and flagbearer aspirant in the NPP has recently accused the NPP of political suicide by allowing for a capture of sorts by people currently wielding political power.

Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party.

Video: Agya Koo campaigns for Kennedy Agyapong

0

Ghanaian actor and comedian, Alex Kofi Adu, popurly known as Agya Koo, captured in a video making waves online, strongly campaigning for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong.

Prior to this development, Agya Koo had on several occasions declared his loyalty to Mr. Agyapong and with the campaign season in place, he has seized the opportunity to re-emphasize it.

In the said video, the actor was clad in a ‘Showdown’ campaign shirt while grooving to the song he produced for his ‘Mentor’.

Titled ‘Onoa’, the lyrics which was expressed in Twi, conveyed messages of support for Kennedy Agyapong.

“Who is that coming? He’s the one. Is it Kennedy? Yes, he’s the one…Kennedy Agyapong is coming, let’s all meet him,” parts of the song expressed.

However, Agya Koo’s endorsement song has garnered lots of traction on social media.

While some alleged that he is embarking on such a venture for monetary gains, others have commended him for his unflinching support and loyalty to Mr. Kennedy Agyapong.

900 NIB workers cry for help in open letter to gov’t

0

Workers of the state-owned National Investment Bank (NIB) Limited, have in an open letter appealed to the government not to liquidate the bank, saying “the current board, management team and the entire staff can turn around the bank and bring it back to previous glorious days”.

They want the “Government to recapitalize the bank and not to entertain any form of liquidation” explaining that “a chunk of non-performing loans totaling over GHS2.1billion granted to companies and individuals to execute government of Ghana projects. These companies and individuals have executed the projects, raised Interim Payment Certificates, and are yet to be paid by the government”.

The workers, who place their current number at 900, fear losing their jobs in the liquidation, said “Our earnest plea comes on the backdrop of recent news, information, and intelligence gathered suggesting a possible liquidation of National Investment Bank (NIB) Limited”.

According to them, “the Bank has undergone management, institutional and financial restructuring, which has strengthened the organization. It now has 48 Branches and 3 Agencies nationwide and has tens of thousands of customers and continues to enjoy an increase in deposits. Its unique customer base spans from public and civil institutions, private companies, small to medium enterprises to individual customers. These customers are very loyal and in return enjoy excellent customer service from the bank”.

They further revealed that “internal management staffing restructuring has been successful. The staff strength saw reduction from 1700 in 2021 to a little over 900 in July 2023. There is still the edge for further downsizing to ensure efficiency and increase savings”.

“The internal challenges include Bank of Ghana embargo on granting of loans for the past six (6) years practically depriving the bank huge interest income and technically out of trade and business.

“Secondly, a chunk of non-performing loans totaling over GHS2.1billion granted to companies and individuals to execute government of Ghana projects. These companies and individuals have executed the projects, raised Interim Payment Certificates, and are yet to be paid by the government.

“Thirdly, the Bank’s investments in Government of Ghana bonds of GHS857,000.00 held up and affected by Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP) is also not helping matters”.

However, “amid all these challenges, the Bank has performed excellently well by increasing its deposit position from GHS3.2 billion in August 2022 to GHS5.1 billion in August 2023. Deposit increases month on month and the target of GHS7.0billion year ending December 2023 is highly achievable”.

Below is the letter from the NIB workers kicking against the liquidation dated; September 13, 2023

THE LIQUIDATION OF NATIONAL INVESTMENT BANK LIMITED AND MATTERS ARISING

We humbly plead that you use your good office to intervene for the Government to recapitalize the bank and not to entertain any form of liquidation. Our earnest plea comes on the backdrop of recent news, information, and intelligence gathered suggesting a possible liquidation of National Investment Bank (NIB) Limited. The current board, management team, and the entire staff can turn around the bank and bring it back to previous glorious days.

National Investment Bank (NIB) was set up in 1963 by an act of Parliament (ACT163). It was incorporated as an autonomous joint state-private institution on March 22, 1963, it was established primarily to promote and strengthen rapid industrialization in all sectors of the economy.

NIB, therefore, is the first development bank in Ghana. NIB set up over 100 joint enterprises, including the defunct regional development corporations. Other existing companies, including Nestle Ghana Limited, Novotel (now Accra City Hotel), Kabel Metal (now Nexans Kabelmetal), Aluworks, etc, etc.

The Bank has undergone management, institutional, and financial restructuring, which has strengthened the organization. It now has 48 Branches and 3 Agencies nationwide and has tens of thousands of customers and continues to enjoy an increase in deposits. Its unique customer base spans from public and civil institutions, private companies, small to medium enterprises to individual customers. These customers are very loyal and in return enjoy excellent customer service from the bank.

Nevertheless, the recent global economic changes coupled with unique but solvable internal challenges have created capital gap for the bank.

The internal challenges include Bank of Ghana’s embargo on granting of loans for the past six (6) years practically depriving the bank of huge interest income and technically out of trade and business.

Secondly, a chunk of non-performing loans totaling over GHS2.1 billion granted to companies and individuals to execute government of Ghana projects. These companies and individuals have executed the projects, raised Interim Payment Certificates, and are yet to be paid by the government.

Thirdly, the Bank’s investments in Government of Ghana bonds of GHS857,000.00 held up and affected by the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP) is also not helping matters.

Amid all these challenges, the Bank has performed excellently well by increasing its deposit position from GHS3.2 billion in August 2022 to GHS5.1 billion in August 2023. Deposit increases month on month and the target of a billion year ending December 2023 is highly achievable.

The goodwill from our loyal customers has been amazing as the bank opens over 2,000 new accounts every month. The bank’s nationwide customer cash collection service is second to none.

Internal management staffing restructuring has been successful. The staff strength saw a reduction from 1700 in 2021 to a little over 900 in July 2023. There is still the edge for further downsizing to ensure efficiency and increase savings.

Also, the management workable structures put in place by the current management team have been very effective and responsible for the sustenance and continued existence of the bank despite BoG embargo on granting of loans and other delimitating factors. Notable among the structures are a strong Risk Department, independent Internal Audit, solid Compliance team, effective Operations Division, Executive Committee (EXCOM), Management Committee (MANCOM), solid Business Development, and robust ICT divisions.

The bank currently requires a capital injection of GHS2.2 billion to operate efficiently. Though the amount is significant it is possible to be secured by the majority shareholder or other minority shareholders if pursued.

It is our fervent plea that the majority shareholder (Government):

· Should recapitalize the bank by injecting GHS2,2billion being the capital deficit.

· Should implore the Bank of Ghana (BOG) to lift the embargo on granting of loans immediately to enable the bank trade.

· Should honour its obligation regarding Interim Payment Certificate raised by customers of the bank in connection with work done for the state.

· Should explore other prudent alternatives other than liquidation.

· Should have faith and allow the current Board and Management team to turn the bank around.

It is our humble plea and desired will that you use your esteemed office to intervene and save the National Investment Bank and all stakeholders especially the staff whose livelihood greatly depends on the very existence of the Bank.

This is from all staff.

Why I demanded sex before collaborating with Simi – Brymo

0

Singer, Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, popularly known as Brymo, has described his sex-for-music request from a female colleague, Simi, as an “artistic pursuit”

Brymo sparked controversy after he revealed in a voice note he posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he demanded a sexual relationship from Simi in lieu of a music collaboration.

This didn’t sit well with Simi’s husband, singer Adekunle Gold, who warned him to “stay away” from his wife and “stop disrespecting” his family.

However, in a recent interview with TVC, Brymo defended his sexual advances towards the “Tiff” singer describing it as “an artistic pursuit.”

He said, “One day I was somewhere and I met Adekunle Gold, I was just like, ‘Oh! Gold.’ The first time I was ever meeting him. And he requested a collaboration… When he came to me, I just said flatly, ‘Oga, I’m not doing any collaboration right now.’

“Two weeks after, Simi came. I didn’t know they [Simi and Adekunle Gold were together]. I’m sure you all know about Falz. He took the fall that I was supposed to take. I was the target… But I’m a smart guy.

“When I saw her [Simi], I said no features except I am laying with the woman I am working with so it can really be intense. Did she not sleep with Adekunle Gold? Is that not why the music is extra good? But she said no, and I was like okay, bye-bye, and then she left.

“She wasn’t the only one I proposed it to. But guess what? I’ve made music with seven women. I didn’t sleep with anyone of them.

“After that incident, I’ve recorded songs with four women. We didn’t even have that [sexual] conversation at all. We just made music. So, it wasn’t about me asking for sex for collaboration. No, no, it wasn’t about that. For me, it was an artistic pursuit.”

0

Evangelist Mama Pat widely known as Nana Agradaa has bitterly lamented the series of betrayals and bitter ordeals she has faced with her family, particularly, her brother.

The self-styled evangelist broke into tears while narrating an instance where her brother cursed and cast a spell on her eldest son, identified as Clinton.

Agradaa said her son’s once-promising life has since been destroyed by that particular incident.

Giving a vivid account of what transpired, Agradaa said her brother, fought her son over his car.

She said her brother took her son’s car for repairs and failed to return it.

Agradaa stated that her brother had kept the car for his personal use and his son who was displeased with the situation, confronted him.

She said the brawl between them resulted in her brother vowing to destroy her son, which he truly did.

“You came for my eldest son’s car. This son of mine is very strong-willed and he is the only one that could stand up to my enemies in the future. You came for his car to repair it and that was the end. You refused to bring it back and instead, you kept on using it. When he got angry and complained, you destroyed his life. You told me you would destroy him and truly you did. Today, look at what my son has turned into. Because of my own properties, you have destroyed my son’s life.

“My eldest son. You went naked and cursed him. You had the effrontery to barge into my bedroom when I was in bed with my husband to curse my son. You stripped naked in front of me and my husband and cursed my son,” she stated during TikTok Live while drowning in tears.

This development, however, has compelled Agradaa to distance herself from her family whom she tagged as ‘evil and ungrateful’.

“In this huge family, I am the only breadwinner. I am the only one providing for my family. Everyone looks up to me but in all these they are ungrateful, I hate pretenders and fake people. if I die today, Yaw Omane, you and your family should leave me to rot. I have children but I sacrifice myself to look after my family. I foot the school w of your children, those in secondary school and so on, but you have destroyed mine. From now on, no family members should contact me. Nobody should contact me. I have understood that I am alone. Nobody will be allowed to enter my house,” she said.

Holy Spirit has left you and you’re unable to speak the truth” – Efia Odo blasts Diana Asamoah

0

Ghanaian actress and socialite, Efia Odo has lambasted gospel musician, Evangelist Diana Asamoah for alluding to ‘greed and envy’ when quizzed on what she makes of the hardship the citizens are struggling with in the country.

She indicated that Diana Asamoah cannot speak the truth with regard to the current state of the Ghanaian economy because she has been induced with money.

The Ghanaian socialite described Diana Asamoah as a Christian who lacks the holy spirit leading to her spewing lies in the eyes of the public even though she feels the hardship in the country.

“Diana Asamoah has had an encounter with money so now the Holy Spirit has left her and she’s unable to speak the truth. When the Holy Spirit dwells within, you are able to speak the truth no matter how painful it is !!! God is watching.

“Does she [Diana Asamoah] really know what’s going on in the country? Does she understand what we’re fighting for? What does this image have to do with greed and envy?” Efia Odo wrote on X in reaction to Diana Asamoah’s remarks on the state of the Ghanaian economy.

Efia Odo voiced her frustrations after Diana Asamoah extolled the Akufo-Addo-led government for introducing free SHS and other projects.

Diana Asamoah stated that even if Jesus becomes president of Ghana and the citizens don’t change their attitudes, the hardship will still persist.

“The whole world is in a crisis, a lot of the hardships also rest on our actions. I have always maintained that even if Jesus becomes president and we don’t change our attitudes, we won’t have it right,” she said on United Showbiz programme on September 30, 2023.

“The Bible talks about blessings for the truthful and that those in haste won’t have it well,” she stressed.
