Renowned rapper Sarkodie openly discussed his battle with anxiety surrounding his music’s global success.
Speaking at the 3i Africa Summit Partners and Stakeholders Mixer in Accra on Thursday, March 7, 2024, he revealed the internal pressure he experienced after his hit song gained prominence. Despite the success, his focus shifted to the challenge of maintaining and surpassing that level, leaving little room to savor the moment.
“I’m somebody that I panic before something happens so when I had my first biggest record in Ghana which was the biggest hit, instead of me enjoying the moment I was panicking because I was thinking about how to top that so naturally that’s how I am as a person,” he shared.
During the summit, which focused on exploring the convergence of the Creative Industry, Policy, and Fintech, Sarkodie shed light on the importance of a structured music royalty system in Ghana, emphasizing the need to ensure fair compensation for artists.
The event stands as a pioneering global initiative aimed at reshaping Africa’s economic landscape through strategic capital allocation and fostering long-term growth and development.
