Seidu Rafiwu, striving for the Guinness World Record for the longest walk-a-thon, has successfully concluded his attempt for the longest distance covered on foot.
He set off on Saturday, April 27th, trekking 383 km from Techiman to Accra, and wrapped up the 96-hour journey at Independence Square in Osu, Accra, on Tuesday, April 30th.
Initially, there were reports of Rafiwu collapsing during his record attempt, with rumors suggesting that exhaustion caused his collapse upon reaching Konongo township. However, Rafiwu later dismissed these rumors, clarifying that the video circulating on social media captured a moment during his scheduled recovery session conducted by the medical team. During breaks along his journey, the team provided active massages to Rafiwu’s thighs and legs, aiming to relieve any strain or discomfort.
The current walking marathon record, held by America’s Jesse Casteneda, stands at 228.930 kilometers, achieved in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, in September 1976.
