Our Leaders Messed Up- Edem Speaks Out on Glovo’s Departure from Ghana

Rapper Edem has shared his perspective on the closure of Glovo in Ghana, shedding light on the challenges facing smaller businesses amidst multinational exits.

He highlighted the strain of the ongoing power crisis, which adds to the economic difficulties already burdening enterprises across the country. Edem also criticized the country’s leadership, stating that they have really messed up in managing the nation’s affairs.

In an official statement, Glovo confirmed their decision to cease operations in Ghana by May 10th, 2024, attributing it to a realignment of investment priorities. Despite the setback, the company assured its local team of generous severance packages and emphasized plans to strengthen its presence in other African countries.

Established in 2015 in Barcelona, Glovo has been a pioneering force, connecting users with local businesses across 23 countries. Africa, with its diverse markets, has been a significant focus for Glovo’s operations.

Taking to his X platform, Edem expressed his concern about the closure of Glovo, stating: “Glovo is shutting down. A multinational company. Imagine what smaller businesses dey to deal with to stay afloat. On top no power to even stay doing anything.. Chale chale our Leaders Fuckop.”
