One of the criteria for settling with my husband was his lighter name, I’ve carried heavy name for all my life – Celestine Donkor

Gospel musician Celestine Donkor recently shared a story about her preference for a husband with a “lighter” name during an interview on Today’s Woman with Cookie Tee on TV3.

Reflecting on her Ewe heritage, Celestine mentioned that she had always carried a heavy surname and joked about her relief at not adding to its weight through marriage.

In a light-hearted exchange with the host, she playfully mentioned the name Akakpo-Dosu as a potential outcome if not for divine intervention. Both Celestine and Cookie Tee shared laughter over the idea, with Cookie Tee expressing gratitude for ending up with the surname Donkor.

Celestine revealed that her preference for a husband with a lighter name was indeed part of her selection criteria, emphasizing her desire to lighten the burden of her own substantial surname.

“That was the prayer I was praying . One of the criteria for my selection ‘that the man must have a lighter name at least’ I’ve carried heavy name for all my life,”she said.
