TGMA: Vote, let’s bag all six nominations, King Promise pleads

Talented artist King Promise is rallying for votes to sweep all six categories he’s nominated in at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

His nominations span across six categories, including Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year, Best Afro Pop Song of the Year, and Best Afrobeats/Afro Pop Artiste of the Year.

On Facebook, he highlighted his dedication to his craft over the past six years and expressed gratitude for the support from fans that keeps him inspired.

“6 years iv been on the road giving my all & putting on for my motherland with pride & honor. I’m inspired by the love, support and your believe in me to wave our flag HIGH 🇬🇭! 6 noms @ghmusicawards this year. Always an honor & never felt this proud of the work we’ve done.. VOTE let’s bag all of them . #ItsTime 💪🏾,” he said in a Facebook post.

Despite frequent nominations at the Ghana Music Awards, King Promise consistently missed out on wins.

However, his luck turned around at the 24th edition of the VGMA held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Saturday night, May 6, 2023. He ended his four-year drought by winning two awards straight, much to the surprise of many. His victories in the Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year and Album of the Year categories shocked music followers who hadn’t expected him to win.

Notably, King Promise’s first win was the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2019 VGMAs with his hit song ‘CCTV.’ Despite subsequent nominations, he hadn’t won until this breakthrough moment.
