A group calling itself ‘Coalition of Traders’ on Thursday, June 23 organised a fundraising ceremony in Accra to aid the 2016 campaign of the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to members of the Coalition, the exercise will be replicated across the country’s regional capital.

The sole aim is to make sure that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is elected President of Ghana, members told 3news.com.

There is no ceiling to the amount targeted but members say as much will be solicited to help Nana Akufo-Addo.

The event saw in attendance NPP stalwarts including Member of Parliament for Assin North Constituency Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Accra Mayor Stanley Nii Egyir Blankson and Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodio Constituency Nii Lantey Bannerman.

The fundraising by the traders follows similar exercises by kayayei in Kumasi and taxi drivers in Cape Coast.
