Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has lashed out at fellow lawmaker Dr Hannah Bissiw for the “hypocrisy” in joining other women parliamentarians to receive a petition against Kennedy Agyapong.

Some women groups on Tuesday, July 12 petitioned Parliament to sanction the Assin Central Constituency MP for making sexually derogatory remarks against the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei.

The demonstrators including market women were received by some women MPs among whom was the Tano South representative.

But Mrs Owusu-Ekuful found Dr Bissiw’s gesture hypocritical.

“Many of those who are crying out loud and saying that it is wrong didn’t see anything wrong when I was attacked,” she stated.

“[Hannah Bissiw] is one person who has called me a prostitute before. She my colleague in Parliament has used sexually laced insults against me before.”

‘Laughable and offensive’

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said for the deputy minister to be among the delegation of women MPs to receive the petition was simply at the “height of hypocrisy”.

“Today she finds it okay to condemn Honourable Ken Agyapong. That is the height of hypocrisy and I find it laughable and offensive.”

But the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP has challenged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP about the situation, accusing her of telling outright lies.

“I am challenging Ursula Owusu to go for the tapes [and] the recordings where Hannah Bissiw said she is a prostitute.

“I will never open my mouth and call a woman a prostitute.”

Dr Bissiw said she will only apologise if the recordings are made available to her.

But for that, all what her fellow MP is peddling are false.
