Host of 3FM’s ‘Late Edition’ Alfred Ocansey, who is also a business anchor on TV3’s ‘News 360’ has close to a decade of media experience as a broadcast journalist.

Alfred is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon and is a post-graduate diploma candidate of UPSA.

Alfred Ocansey (AO) gets up-close and personal with online journalist Nana Afrane Asante (NA).

NA: What motivates you?

AO: The passion to change society and knowing that the power of radio at the back of my mind is exactly what motivates me because there is an opportunity to influence society positively knowing that you have a larger audience listening to you every time you are in this little room behind the microphone.

NA: How would you rate your memory?

AO: On a scale of 1 to 10, I will give myself 6, considering my assimilate process of developing ability to assess what I do. It’s a process, a work in progress. The profession demands good memory.

NA: What do you do to relax?

AO: Difficult to relax, I have less rest due to service to society, I like to sleep, watching movies and series. I love ‘’The Blacklist’’

NA: What’s your favourite fashion item?

AO: Made in Ghana products particularly “Bibini shoes”, “mpaboah” by Kwabena Adu Gyamfi

NA: Which is your favourite radio and TV station?

AO: TV3 remains my favourite TV station due to objectivity, even though I have worked with other TV stations. For radio its 3FM. I believe we are the difference due to content on air.

NA: What’s your favourite sport?

AO: Football and Table Tennis. I was in the same class with Asamoah Gyan during my days at Accra Academy and he is making millions now.

NA: Which is your favourite football team?

AO: Real Madrid and Accra Hearts of Oak

NA: Who is your favourite player?

AO: Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid due to his confidence.  Locally Philemon McCarty with Accra Hearts of Oak.

NA: Who is your favourite family member?

AO: My dad even though he’s late. He’s had a great influence in my life. He ensured discipline and principles in my life being a police officer.

NA: How lucky are you and why?

AO: I feel very lucky and I feel blessed. Certain things happen in your life and you know you have no hand and you know that it’s just God. I can cite a lot of instances in my life where I know God was involved.

NA: What is unique about you?

AO: Complex in personality. I listen a lot. I consider listening as an art.

NA: What is your favourite food?

AO: Banku and Okro soup

NA: What’s your favourite music?

AO: Gospel and jazz Gospel music which uplift the soul.

NA: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

AO: Thank God for life. Sleeping to me remains a mystery.

NA: Where would you like to go for holiday?

AO: Mauritius

NA: W hat do you miss about your younger years?

AO: The adventure of my younger year, growing up in the village, farming and fishing was a great adventure for me.
