Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC lifted their semi-final hopes in the CAF Confederation Cup after beating African champions TP Mazembe 3-2 in the penultimate group game.

Akwesi Donsu’s extra-time strike gave the Mauves the maximum points at the Essipong Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Before Donsu’s winner, the match was pegged at 2-2 after the Congolese had rallied from two goals down to come level.

But it was delight in Sekondi after Donsu’s goal.

The win takes Medeama second below TP Mazembe, who have already booked a place in the semi-final.

Medeama would have to, at worse, draw in their final group game against Algeria’s MO Bejaia to qualify to the semi final stage.

Meanwhile, in Group B Morocco’s FUS Rabat and defending champions Etoile Sportive du Sahel have qualified to the semi-finals with a game to spare.

Eliminated from that group are Kawkab Marrakech and Al-Ahli Tripoli.

  1. TP Mazembe (10pts)
  2. Medeama (8pts)
  3. Bejaia (5pts)
  4. Young Africans (4pts)

Group B

  2. Etoile du Sahel (10pts)
