Popular Ghanaian actor, farmer and politician John Dumelo has expressed his disappointment at the lack of celebration for fathers in Ghana.
In a social media post, the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency said that while Mother’s Day is widely celebrated with events and giveaways, Father’s Day is often overlooked.
After his post, it has given a lot of room for discussion on social media and outside social media, with many people agreeing that fathers are often not given the same level of recognition as mothers.
He wrote;
“When it’s Mother’s Day, all the multinational/local companies and brands will organize events and do giveaways for mothers,” he wrote. “But on Father’s Day, all WE get is…….nothing. God Dey.”
