Management of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) has given approval for the lecture by the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to take place there.

Earlier report suggests management denied him the opportunity for the lecture because of faulty air-conditions.

“Air-conditions are faulty and as such the place will be unbearable for those who would use the place during the lecture,” Onua News’ source at the Conference Center said.

But few hours after the issue came out, a top management member who spoke on condition of anonymity to Onua News said “the Ministry has given approval for Dr. Bawumia’s programme to go on, thank you”.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia came under pressure to look for an alternate venue for his public lecture scheduled for Thursday, September 8 since he was denied access to the AICC.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, managers of the AICC, on the eve of the public lecture aimed at assessing the health of the economy, stopped Dr. Bawumia from using the place.

Meanwhile, the Office of Bawumia said the National Theatre is the new venue, adding: “Despite the setback, we will like to assure the general public that everything is set for the Lecture tomorrow on the theme: “The State of the Ghanaian Economy – A Foundation of Concrete or Straw”.

It says “the change in venue follows a decision of the managers of the Conference Centre (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to deny organizers of the programme the use of the facility – 24 hours to the Public Lecture, despite earlier assurances and two days of technical meetings and arrangements between the organizers and technical men at the Centre, which concluded on among others, the Technical set-up for the event”.

The Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to chair the event.
