Ghanaian dancehall artiste MzVee has lashed out at her critics, saying she chooses to wear what she wants.

MzVee has been criticised for not portraying the Ghanaian culture during the 2016 BET awards, where she lost out on the ‘Best International Act: Africa’ gong to South African DJ Black Coffee.

MzVee stayed original and promoted African ingenuinty, while many appeared in western outfits, as she wore a lovely Nontera design. However, there have been critics who have been saying she didn’t look Ghanaian on the day but rather South African.

Speaking exclusively to host of Urban Blend on 3FM, Miriam Osei Agyemang, the talented musician stated that she represented her country well at the BET award and believes it also gave Ghana some mileage across the globe.

“I think it’s my choice what I wear to the BET and I wanted to feel comfortable and still represent my country the best way possible.

“I went with Ghanaian designer Nonterah and I think he did a very good job with styling me and the design.

“My outfit went all the way to CNN and so it was a big deal and people loved it.

“The truth is nobody cares where I was coming from and when we got on the red carpet there were so many media houses and nobody was interested in interviewing an African artiste but because I looked so outstanding and looked African I was interviewed by every single media house.

“I can tell you that people have learnt more about Ghana than they have ever learnt in their whole lives because I represented my country well”.
