It will be nice for African actors to receive their royalties – Rita Dominic

0

Nigerian actress, Rita Dominic expressed her eagerness to witness African actors earning royalties for their contributions.
In an interview with Lexis Bill on the Joy FM Personality Profile, Rita emphasized the significance of residuals, or royalties, as a means of improving filmmakers’ lives, particularly in their later years.

She pointed out the financial challenges faced by some aging actors, stressing the need for a system where actors in Africa can benefit financially from their films even as they age. Rita highlighted the anomaly where films featuring these actors continue to generate revenue on platforms like YouTube, yet the actors face financial struggles.
“It will be nice for actors in Africa to have their royalties so that way people are not struggling when they get older, which has been the challenge in the industry for some old actors. They have been struggling financially and that shouldn’t be so. These are people who have done major films, been involved in major films and all that and then all of a sudden when they are old, they are struggling financially. Meanwhile, their films are still being played on YouTube, on all these platforms and they are even getting royalties or getting monies from them,” she said.
Rita also advised actors to manage their finances wisely, acknowledging the pressure some feel to sustain a celebrity lifestyle.

“Maybe some of us need to invest more, do more financial planning, and understand that the work will not always keep coming,” she advised.

Amandzeba says he’s not doing music to be celebrated

0

Highlife legend, Amandzeba Nat Brew, commonly known as Amandzeba, shares profound thoughts about success, emphasizing that you don’t necessarily require recognition and celebrations to validate your accomplishments.
Amandzeba highlights the importance of finding personal fulfillment and staying dedicated to one’s craft.

During an interview with the Daily Graphic, the artist behind the hit ‘Kpalogo Y3de’ questions the conventional belief that success depends solely on external recognition or public celebrations. Despite his noteworthy contributions to the music scene, he emphasizes that true celebration is found in the authentic appreciation from those who love his music.

“People don’t necessarily have to celebrate you to know that you are doing well. I have had this conviction that I am celebrated when people tell me they love my music. I know I have done great songs and if people praise me for it, it is enough celebration.

“So don’t feel bad as a musician that Ghana does not celebrate you. When you believe in yourself and the product you have, people will love you for it,” he adds, offering a perspective that encourages resilience and self-assurance in the face of external validation challenges within the music industry.

Da Hammer Opens Up About Why His Previous Marriage Ended

0

Legendary music producer Edward Nana Poku Osei, commonly known as Da Hammer, recently shared personal details about his 2004 marriage. During a discussion on D-Black’s ‘Uncut’ show, he revealed that his decision to marry his partner was influenced by their shared parenthood, intending to prevent societal judgment and the stigma associated with being labeled a ‘born one.’

Even though they had a traditional wedding, the marriage ended in less than five months because there was no genuine love between them. Da Hammer explained that the divorce wasn’t due to industry-related issues but was primarily because of their fundamental incompatibility.
“It wasn’t about the industry. I feel like marriage is divine and I was one of the unlucky ones. A match wasn’t made in Heaven and we are great friends because we raised the kids together. It lasted less than five months. After the ceremony we had a mutual (understanding to go separate ways). This is 2004.

“With my marriage, I think it was a typical issue that a lot of people go through. We had a kid and I thought it wise to not let her go home as a ‘born one’. So even though we were not mutually very much in love like a marriage kind of love, I still thought it would work.  So I decided to wed her like a traditional quiet one.
“And we realized quickly that we really wouldn’t be with each other so we had to agree that this won’t go anywhere and the further we go, the further we hurt each other.  So that’s why we are able to welcome good friends,”he shared.

Additionally, Da Hammer mentioned that he has chosen not to remarry, emphasizing a lack of urgency to settle down again. Despite this, he shared details about his current relationship with a “very great woman” and disclosed intentions to marry her after his children finish university. While expressing affection for his children, whom he regards as his best friends, Da Hammer remains cautious about entering into another marriage.
”I haven’t remarried. I’m married to my children. They are beautiful and my best friends. I will marry again. I have seen a couple of great women and currently with a very great woman because I do not want to make her a mother before she becomes a mother, my kids are in the university now so until they finish,” he said.

South African singer Tyla announced that she is postponing and canceling her international tour dates due to an injury. Her UK & Europe tour, which included locations such as Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, and London, has been rescheduled. The singer’s North America tour, which included her debut Coachella performance, has been cancelled.

She uploaded a statement onto her Instagram addressed to her Tygers, the name she gives her fans, giving details about her injury.

“All of you know that this moment you have all helped me transform into a reality has been a lifelong dream. I am so grateful and humbled by this past year and the way it’s changed my life,” the Water hitmaker wrote.

“I can never thank you guys enough for all your loving support, all the joy, the laughter, and the wins!”

“For the past year, I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened. I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only become more agonising, as has the severity of the situation,” she said.

She wanted to deal with the injury privately but felt she needed to share it with her followers. She added:

“I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say this, but as of right now, I won’t be able to proceed with the tour.

“In consulting with medical professionals, it’s become increasingly clear that continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardise my long-term health and safety,” she added.

She expressed her frustration for the injury halting her plans at a pivotal time in her career.

“Please know that my team and I are working diligently on a spectacular show for you as soon as I am recovered and ready to return safely onstage this summer,” she reassured fans.

She shared that North American tour ticket holders will be automatically refunded, and other territories will be contacted by their ticket provider regarding options.

Earlier this year, Tyla won the inaugural Best African Performance at the Grammys for her single Water, which also peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
