Akumaa Mama Zimbi cries over verbal abuse from pastors, elderly people because of “Odo Ahomaso” show

0

Ghanaian media personality and marriage counselor,  Dr. Joyce Akumaa Dongotey-Padi well-known as Akumaa Mama Zimbi has said that she faces verbal abuse from certain individuals in Ghana due to her sex education programs.

According to her, pastors, elderly people, chiefs, and other notable personalities call to rebuke her for her show that they deem ‘sexually explicit’ which could distort the morals of children in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3 on Wednesday, September 13, Mama Zimbi stated that she is not perturbed about the criticisms by some members of the public because the show is impactful.

“It [sex education shows] has to be well done. If it must be done, it must be done well. And you [couples] are married so that is why you have to do it well. I have been criticized a lot, with all due respect, from the top to down. I had insults from men of God, elderly people, kings, queens, etc. Everybody is asking, who is this woman? Who is this Dangbe woman who wants to ‘spoil’ our children?” she lamented.

The host of “Odo Ahomaso” on Adom TV/FM reiterated that the content of her show is meant to educate couples on how they can retain their marriages with a focus on the counseling and sexual aspect that has derailed most marriages in recent times.

She admonished women to be submissive to their husbands in all circumstances to sustain marriages.

“But I was not saying go and follow someone’s husband. I said in a relationship, close your tires, wear your pants, and zip up. But when you marry, you have to do it. You should be able to be submissive to your husband,” she added.

Blakk Rasta details African presidents who formed ‘family & friends’ gov’t

0

Controversial musician and radio personality, Blakk Rasta has come up with some presidents on the African continent who have filled their governments with family and friends appointees.

According to him, the rate at which presidents are filling their government with their relatives has become prevalent contributing to the menace of corruption the continent is battling with.

Speaking on the UrbanBlend Show on 3FM, which was monitored by GhanaWeb, Blakk Rasta condemned the act and detailed some African countries whose Presidents have filled their governments with their family and friends.

Ghana

Blakk Rasta accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of filling his government with family and friends appointees when he spoke against it before he came into office.

He noted that former president, John Dramani Mahama did not have the number of appointees from his own family and friends compared to Akufo-Addo’s administration.

“Do you know how many people Nana Akufo-Addo has put into power and given appointments coming from his family and friends? Are you aware of that?” he asked.

“Former president Mahama did not fill his government with family and friends, yet it was rife all over the place that the country was being controlled by family and friends. Now we are seeing the real family and friends. Nana Akufo-Addo without shame will fill his government with his own family and friends. We have some people who become president and they turn it into a jamboree of family and friends.”

Cameroon

Blakk Rasta stated that the president of Cameroon, Paul Biya, has also appointed his own family and friends to occupy government positions.

Although he did not pinpoint specific individuals, he alleged that some government officials are people related to him.

“The man there [Cameroon] who calls himself a president, Paul Biya, has inundated his government with family and friends,” he alleged.

Equatorial Guinea

Blakk Rasta also said that the president of Equatorial Guinea, Teodora Obiang Nguema has appointed his son and other family members to occupy key positions in government.

He described the act as worrying because there are other people who are equally or even more competent than the said individuals but are not given the opportunity.

“Let me take you to Equatorial Guinea. There is a man [the president] there, Teodora Obiang Nguema, he appointed his son and several others of his family into government positions including minister of defense, finance minister, and now vice president,” he said.

He further added “That is what is known as nepotism. Just one or two will not be enough for you to come out and say this is nepotism because, after all, you first have to look at qualifications.”

“If you are the president of a nation and your son is the only pilot on the land and you appoint him as the pilot of the national aircraft, does that amount to nepotism?”

Zimbabwe

Blakk Rasta mentioned that the president of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed his family and friends to occupy various government positions has led to public outcry in the country.

He disclosed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed his son and nephew to occupy key government positions.

“President Emerson Mnangagwa has appointed his son and nephew into positions and the people are crying. These are only two people. He has appointed his son as the deputy finance minister and then his cousin as the tourism minister. In fact, if Ghana was Zimbabwe, I am sure something else would have happened,” Blakk Rasta stated.

He commended former president, Robert Mugabe for his good governance that alleviated the plight of the people.

“The people of Zimbabwe, you saw how former president, Robert Mugabe ruled the nation. The time I [Blakk Rasta] went to Zimbabwe, there was peace and order. The place was beautiful and nice. The people loved their president and made sure things went right. I don’t know what is happening in Zimbabwe right now,” he said.

Why I was afraid to marry Jumobi – Richard Mofe-Damijo

0

Veteran Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has disclosed why he was afraid to marry his wife, Jumobi Adegbesan.

If you were an avid AIT fan in the late 1990s and early 2000s, you most likely have seen her anchor the popular program ‘Lunch Break.

Jumobi would eventually leave the show to follow her other pursuits. At that time, one of the interests she decided to pursue was building a family with RMD.

Richard and Jumobi have been married for 23 years and have two children. However, before his marriage in 2000, RMD married the late Nigerian journalist/publisher May Ellen-Ezekiel (MEE).

She died in 1996 from surgery complications.

In a recent interview with comedian Teju Babyface, the 62-year-old actor revealed why he was initially reluctant to marry Jumobi, citing an unusual reason.

While recalling instances where she showed him acts of kindness before their marriage in 2000, he said, “I was terrified to marry her because she was too nice. I told her I hope you won’t change when I marry you. She said no. I told her that if she changed, I would kill myself because she was so good. Before we married, I told her that my biggest problem was that I didn’t deserve to marry her.”

The actor, also a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State in 2009, narrated a specific instance where Jumobi came to his house before they married. She met some women there, but her reaction baffled him.

He said, “I’m like, why are you so nice? I don’t get it! Why don’t you say something? I was really afraid to marry her.”

Richard further disclosed that at the lowest point in his life, he would apologise to her, and her reactions always build more responsibility for him to slow down and cherish her more.

Infidelity

During the interview, RMD admitted how hard it is to be faithful in marriage, describing women as ‘Delilah’ and ‘Jezebels’.

The actor said that these days, most married male celebrities are often the target of desperate young women who aim to lure them into infidelity.

The 62-year-old actor noted that the temptations from these women can be irresistible if one is not careful.

He said, “Being faithful is hard. You know, being in the line of work that we do, it’s tough because let’s face it. Every one of us that is married we are the target. “I mean, look at how women are. How can you escape it? Women are like Delilah. They are like Jezebel. They prepare.”

The actor, who is a theatre arts graduate, said that the only way one can perpetuate the real intentions of the enemy is to constantly aim at the image of God or the symbol of authority in any home.

“You shoot him down. It’s like a general in the army, then the battalion scatters. Their mission is to take down the head of the house.”

Divorce

However, when asked how a wife is supposed to deal with the side chics aiming for husbands, RMD said that the man has to get to the point where his wife understands what she is up against as well.

He noted that if the wife is not up to speed, his flanks would be left open, and it would be easy to attack.

The host further asked why women quickly divorce their husbands when they cheat, even if it’s once.

The actor noted that these marriages always end because the women do not understand the role they play in the situation.

“It is not a competition; it’s a partnership. They are not grounded enough. They have to understand the concept of what they are involved in.”

In comparison to how animals protect their territories, he said the couple, mainly the women, should be able to do the same.

Escaping scandals

Scandals are one thing celebrities are well known for, particularly as regards their marriage and relationships.

During the podcast discussion, Teju Babyface asked the actor how he has managed to maintain minimal scandals throughout his career.

RMD noted that he smiles through it all and tries to be civil because there are pitfalls like mine set around a person. So, one has to be very careful.

He said, “You tread carefully, and if you manage to tread carefully long enough, you master it. It becomes a dance, you know.”

He likened his lifestyle to the famous boxer Mohammed Ali, who was once asked how he had managed to remain a champion, and he said he started by avoiding women and clubs.

“So, I avoid the clubs as well. I go when it is essential. I’m out of town if it’s not work or I’m not entertaining people. I just enjoy my time with a close circle of friends who protect my flags. I’m sure to leave there safe no matter what happens,” he explained.

WWE and UFC complete £17.3bn merger

0

Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Wrestling Entertainment executives decided to name their new publicly traded company TKO to honor the companies’ expertise in fighting, but they have broader aspirations than just owning combat sports.

TKO began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, culminating a merger of two live-entertainment juggernauts that was announced in April. The combined company is 51% owned by Endeavor Group Holdings, which owns assets including UFC and Hollywood talent agency WME, and 49% owned by WWE shareholders. Shares rose 2.8% in midday trading.

The first 18 months of the company’s existence will revolve around integrating UFC and WWE, Mark Shapiro, TKO’s president and chief operating officer, said in an interview with CNBC. That includes eventually going to market together for international media rights and bringing together the company’s production efforts and back offices, Shapiro said.

After that, TKO plans to swing into acquisition mode to grow the company, he said.

“We will ultimately be in the marketplace looking for other sports properties that we can bolt onto the flywheel enhanced by Endeavor,” Shapiro said, adding the company has a strong desire to expand internationally.

Endeavor also owns Professional Bull Riders and two tennis tournaments – the Mutua Madrid Open and the Miami Open. The “flywheel” includes Endeavor’s representation of professional athletes through WME, its expertise in negotiating media rights, product licensing and enhancing live events to boost venue fees. Shapiro also envisions direct-to-consumer options with TKO that don’t exist yet.

WWE currently streams on NBCUniversal’s Peacock in a deal that concludes in 2026. Shapiro said other streaming entities have already expressed interest in bidding on the rights when that deal expires.

In the coming months, TKO executives will also negotiate new media deals for WWE “Raw” and “SmackDown” on traditional pay TV. NBCUniversal and Fox currently own those rights.

Who runs TKO?

Vince McMahon, 78, is the executive chairman of TKO and Ari Emanuel is the CEO. Shapiro made it clear who will be the company’s leader.

“Ari Emanuel is running the company,” Shapiro said. “Vince will play a role. He’s got experience and influence. But he understands the role of CEO is Ari’s. This is not a shared position.”

McMahon has earned a reputation as a force of personality, both as a WWE character and behind the scenes, in his more than 40 years running WWE. He’s also had some recent legal issues. On July 17, according to a recent filing, federal law enforcement agents served a federal grand jury subpoena on McMahon stemming from allegations of sexual misconduct. No charges have been brought in the investigation.

Shapiro noted Emanuel has already proven he can run a company along side a sports league co-founder with a big personality and checkered past. Dana White, UFC’s president, has dealt with a number of controversies in his personal life, including slapping his wife in a recorded video, while brashly and unapologetically staying in his job.

“Me leaving hurts the company. Hurts my employees. Hurts the fighters. Doesn’t hurt me,” said White during a media event earlier this year “Do I need to reflect? No, I don’t need to reflect. … I own this. I’m telling you that I’m wrong.”
