Watch: Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ gets action-packed trailer from Netflix

Netflix has debuted an explosive new trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” set for a limited one-week theatrical release on Dec. 15 and a wide streaming release on Netflix on Dec. 22.

Snyder’s epic space adventure film stars Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman and Cary Elwes. The story centers on a young woman living on the outskirts of a galaxy who must find a group of warriors to save the galaxy from an invasion from a tyrant. Snyder revealed to Total Film that “Rebel Moon” takes place in the same universe as another Netflix film of his, “Army of the Dead,” though one is set in outer space and the other in apocalyptic Las Vegas.

“‘Army of the Dead’ has a pretty vast mythology that never made it into the movie,” he told Total Film. “There’s actually a character from ‘Rebel Moon’ in the ‘Army of the Dead’ animated series that we never did.”

Snyder originally wrote a 172-page script for “Rebel Moon,” which he figured would translate into a three-hour plus movie. Netflix and Snyder agreed to cut the film into two parts as a result. Snyder has also shared that each part of “Rebel Moon” will have a director’s cut available, intended for adults only.

“I think for fans of mine and people who are ready to take a deeper, harder dive, that’ll be fun for them,” Snyder said to Vanity Fair.

Before it hits Netflix, “Rebel Moon” will play in theaters at locations in the following cities: Los Angeles (Egyptian Theatre), New York City (Paris Theater), Toronto (TIFF Bell Lightbox) and London (Prince Charles Cinema). Netflix owns the Paris Theater and the Egyptian Theatre.

Watch the trailer for the first “Rebel Moon” movie below.

Late Sam Loco-Efe named most intelligent Nollywood actor ever lived

0

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Charles Inojie, has referred to the late actor Sam Loco-Efe as “the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived,” adding that he deserves posthumous awards.

Inojie, while recounting his experience with the late actor on set, said he would only rehearse his lines once and would often correct others.

He made this known during an interview with media personality Chude.

His words: “Uncle Sam (Sam Loco-Efe) was perhaps the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived. He can be here smoking cigarettes, and people are rehearsing that way, you won’t know that his subconscious mind is where they are rehearsing. He would be correcting you from afar; you wouldn’t even know he was talking to you.

“If you have a scene to play with him, Uncle Sam would only read with you once. He would ask the others to rehearse their lines.

“He would read that scene just once. He would say his lines, and when you missed yours, he would tell you your lines. Since I’ve been meeting people, I haven’t seen that type before. Uncle Sam was from another planet.”

Speaking further, he stated that it’s a ‘shame’ that the late actor never received national honour in a country where greenhorns are bestowed with one.

He said, “But in the country we live in, how can anyone imagine that Uncle Sam died without a national honour? In a country where national honours are being given to neophytes and greenhorns, Uncle Sam died without a national honour.

“One of Nigeria’s entries to FESTAC 1977, I think, was ‘Lambodo’ where Uncle Sam played the lead role. He got a special mention from the Queen as the best actor in Africa. That kind of human being, even in death, deserves posthumous awards.”

Shatta Wale’s court sanction: Sally Mann calls out Black Sherif

0

Popular entertainment critic Sally Mann has established that it is about time artists are held accountable for every bit of unprofessionalism showcased during their dealings with business partners.

Reacting to the victory granted the Wildaland organizers in their case against Shatta Wale, the popular entertainment pundit said Black Sherif is next in line to face a similar fate.

It can be recalled that the Cruise People Ltd, organizers of the Afro Cruise Jam, sued Black Sherif, and demanded over $100k compensation for breach of contract.

In the suit filed at a High Court, they alleged that Black Sherif failed to honour the agreement between them leading to the cancellation of the concert he had been scheduled for in August.

They are insisting on nothing but compensation and have prayed the court to direct Black Sherif to make available the booking fee with interests, some monies lost in securing the cabins, advertisement fees, and so on to the tune of $100,000.

However, judging from the court’s final ruling pertaining to the ‘Shatta Wale-Wildaland’ case, Sally Mann said she is anticipating that Black Sherif will go through the same tangent.

“I am anticipating the same level for Black Sherif who took some money from a travel and tour agency. He also should be embarrassed so that he can pay the money,” Sally retorted during a discussion on Power FM.

She added that a lot of booking contracts had been signed for the forthcoming ‘December in Ghana’ concerts, and as such, any artiste who would be unprofessional in their dealings with clients should be dragged through the mud.

“As usual, all eyes are on Ghana this festive season. They said over 200 shows are scheduled to take place in the country. So, we won’t allow any artiste to rubbish our hard work. If any of them should mess up, the law should deal with them accordingly,” she emphasized.

Background

The ‘Wildaland Festival’ organizers have triumphed in a two-year-long legal tussle against Shatta Wale who breached their contract sometime in 2021.

Shatta Wale was hurled before the court for his failure to show up at the Wildaland Festival in 2021 after receiving a full performance fee of $120,000, among others.

After years of back-and-forth, an Accra High Court has ordered the dancehall artiste to pay an amount of one hundred and twenty thousand Dollars ($120,000) to Maverick City Entertainment, organizers of the popular Wildaland Festival.

In an order of substituted service, the court led by her ladyship Afi Agbanu Kudomor J. granted other reliefs to the plaintiff.

Among other reliefs, judgment was entered on behalf of the plaintiff for interest on the sum of $120,000 from 14th December 2021 to the date of the final payment at a rate of 5.5% (New York federal interest rate) being a sum total of ten thousand eight hundred and ninety-two United States Dollars forty-seven cents ($10,892.47).
