Akufo-Addo is the best president; only ungrateful people think he has failed – Diana Asamoah

Veteran gospel singer Evangelist Diana Asamoah now turned politician, has insisted that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been a better president than all the former presidents in the 4th republic.

Diana Asamoah believes that there is evidence for all to see that the President hasn’t failed like people want Ghanaians to believe.

The “Pentecost Gya” crooner is of the view that, if not for anything, the President’s introduction of Free SHS is a testament to the fact that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done great.

“If you say Akufo-Addo has done nothing, what do you mean? Do you know the amount of money supporting children to go to school? You cannot say that about your father. We should be grateful and stop being ungrateful,” she said.

NPP is looting Ghana and stashing the money abroad – Ken Agyapong alleges

0

Loudmouth legislature, Kennedy Agyapong has allegedly revealed corrupt practices on the part of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the party of stealing state money.

He claims that the looting is of such a magnitude that makes it extremely concerning adding that the stolen funds were being stashed abroad.

“The way the NPP is looting this country, you will think there is no tomorrow. You steal all this money and stash same abroad, what do you mean?” he is heard stating in a video clip that has been shared widely on social media.

“The youth of this country are not working yet you are intimidating people. I will put my life on the line and defend them,” he stressed.

GhanaWeb checks show that he made the comments in the United States during his recent campaign trip ahead of the NPP’s November 4 flagbearership contest.

Agyapong, a Member of Parliament and flagbearer aspirant in the NPP has recently accused the NPP of political suicide by allowing for a capture of sorts by people currently wielding political power.

He has, for example, alleged that the National Council of the NPP – the largest decision-making body – has been reduced into a rogue body by a number of regional chairmen.

During the September 30, 2023 showdown walk in Kumasi, Agyapong took on the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Wontumi, for deploying rogue tactics.

“Alan is being insulted on Wontumi’s station. Wontumi is just a small boy, he is a small boy. It is sad that Wontumi and five chairmen – from northern region, Volta Region – have turned the National Council into a hooliganism group,” he added.

Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party.

‘Mummy, I love you, we’re going to die’; Nightclub fire in Spain kills 13 – Video

0

At least 13 people have died in a fire that engulfed three nightclubs in the south-eastern Spanish city of Murcia.

The blaze broke out in the Fonda Milagros nightclub – known as La Fonda – early on Sunday morning.

It then spread to neighbouring clubs as patrons rushed to escape the packed dancefloors, police said.

Local media reported that family members celebrating a birthday were among the dead.

One of the birthday party attendees – who was at the club with his cousins and aunt – said he returned home during the chaos, only to be told that one of his cousins had not left, La Verdad de Murcia newspaper reported.

It is not clear if the cousin was among those confirmed dead.

Police have confirmed that all of those who died were at La Fonda, but added 14 people were still unaccounted for. They warned the number of deaths would probably rise.

The club is located in the Atalayas area in Murcia, and the fire is believed to have started at around 06:00 (04:00 GMT).

Nearly 15 hours on, it is still not clear what caused it. But Murcia’s Mayor Jose Ballesta told reporters earlier in the day that the fire had broken out on the first floor of the club.

Diego Seral, of the national police, said the roof of La Fonda had collapsed, which was making it challenging to locate victims and work out what had happened.

A 28-year-old woman sent a voice note to her mother when the fire had started, according to the La Verdad de Murcia newspaper, saying: “Mummy, I love you, we’re going to die.”

She had gone out with her partner and some friends from the nearby town of Caravaca de la Cruz. It is not clear if she survived.

“They went because in Caravaca there are no nightclubs,” the woman’s father, named as Jairo, told the paper. “It was the second time she had been.”

Four people are being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation, and a local sports venue is being used to provide counselling for those affected.

“We are devastated,” Murcia Mayor Jose Ballesta said. He has decreed three days of mourning in Murcia.

This is believed to be the country’s worst nightclub fire in more than 30 years. In 1990, 43 people were killed in a blaze in a venue in Zaragoza.

‘Burna Boy is a thief, very unoriginal, didn’t deserve to win Grammy’ – Brymo

0

Nigerian singer, Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, popularly known as Brymo, has described Grammy-winning musician, Burna Boy as “sleazy, cheap, very unoriginal and very fake”.

Speaking in a recent interview with TVC, the ‘Ara’ crooner also said that Burna Boy didn’t deserve to win the Grammy for his fifth studio album, ‘Twice As Tall,’ stressing that he lacks originality and most of his songs are samples.

He also called out Wizkid and Davido describing them and Burna Boy as “thieves” who are stealing from Fela’s afrobeat sacrifices.

Brymo said, “I saw a video where he [Burna Boy] was saying that he was the Jesus of afrobeats. And he put Davido and Wizkid on some other mountains like that.

“I think he [Burna Boy] is sleazy, he is cheap, he is a thief. Very unoriginal. Very fake. Every of his song is a sample or a stolen slogan. Who does that? And who awards you Grammy for that?

“Afrobeats is a music style. It’s not a genre. Fela’s afrobeat is a genre. And it’s disrespectful that a new generation of musicians came and just added ‘s’. And tried to create another sets of numbers ones: ‘Wizkid is the first. Davido Burna Boy…’ No, no, no. They all are thieves.“Do you know how much struggles Baba [Fela] went through to create afrobeat? Anyways, I think it’s a whole big problem that we have.”

Wendy Shay ‘faked’ her accident for publicity – A Plus alleges

0

Controversial Ghanaian musician, politician and social commentator, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus has stated that singer Wendy Shay’s recent car crash is just a hype.

Speaking on UTV’s programme United Showbiz on Saturday, A Plus said the events after the said accident expose the agenda of Wendy Shay and her manager, Bullet to ride on her unfortunate incident to spark conversations about her.

According to him, Wendy and her management team have been playing the game of stunt and commended them for doing it well.

Recounting incidents after the accident to buttress his point, A Plus said Bullet had mentioned in an earlier interview that the Uber Driver hitmaker would be flown to Germany for better medical care and treatment.

Interestingly, the same Wendy Shay who is expected to be in Germany for treatment has been all over the place granting interviews that her accident was not ordinary but was spiritually orchestrated to kill her.

In a recent interview with Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty earlier this week, Wendy Shay said, “Those who wanted to kill me, they know themselves, and they’re trying to put it on Bullet. It wasn’t Bullet. It wasn’t a normal attack. What I can say is that they know themselves, but I am not going to mention their names. But they can never kill me.”

However, A Plus discount the claims of Wendy’s accident being a spiritual attack but a stunt.

“We cannot say it is spiritual. It is all for the hype. First, Bullet said he will be flying Wendy to Germany for treatment. Now, they are saying that it is spiritual. They know what they are doing. It is called a stunt and they are doing it well,” he stated.

The Survivor hitmaker was involved in a car crash last month sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry.

The accident occurred on the stretch of road between ACP and Kwabenya in Accra, leaving the artiste who was reported to have sustained some injuries shaken.

A video from the accident scene seen by Graphic Showbiz showed a severely damaged front side of the Jeep Wrangler vehicle with the registration number plate, SHAY 21-19.

NPP’s Biggest Challenge is Communication – Socrate Sarfo

0

Ghanaian filmmaker and director of Creative Arts at the National Commission and Culture (NCC), Ghana, Socrate Safo, has mentioned that the sitting government has initiated and undertaken numerous projects in the country, but they lack the communication skills to let Ghanaians know about these projects.

The filmmaker declared he supports the NPP party and has come to the realisation that the NPP government is performing well but lacks the communication to let Ghanaians know of their contributions.

During an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, Socrate Safo acknowledged the significant transformation that has taken place in Ghana under the leadership of President Nana Akufo and Vice President Bawumia.

He suggested that the government needs to do a better job of publicizing the projects that they have completed so that Ghanaians are aware of the progress that has been made compared to the state of the country before the NPP took over from the previous government.

“It is up to the government in power to now come out and tell us what is also done. For all you know, NPP’s biggest challenge is communication.

“I am NPP and I am telling you that the biggest challenge is communication because the NPP has undertaken a lot of projects. Count your blessings name them one by one and that is when you will see what the lord has done.

“The NPP government has transformed the country, looking at how the previous government left it. So when they discuss this, talk about the challenges we’ve faced and why we went through those challenges, I am sure Ghanaians will understand”, he said.

Socrates Safo then advised the sitting government to adopt communication skills and preach their good works to Ghanaians rather than just focusing on implementing projects.

“But the fact that we are not communicating and just focusing on the work. It’s like a musician who is producing good songs but does not promote the songs”, he added.
