screen-shot-2016-09-21-at-11-02-01-amThe one-time most sought for Ghanaian local movie star, Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has launched a campaign that seeks to rally support for a resounding victory for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Agya Koo, who declared his support for the New Patriotic Party flag-bearer Wednesday, is hoping to convince Ghanaians for the need to change the country’s political leadership in order for them to give Akufo-Addo a 57 per cent votes in this year’s election.

Dubbed: Agya Koo Agenda 57%, the campaign will see the movie star interact with voters across the country to rally them behind the New Patriotic Party to clinch electoral victory in this year’s December 7 general elections.

Agya Koo explained that his decision to call for change in Ghana’s political governance stemmed from the “unprecedented precarious economic hardships” being faced by Ghanaians.

“As a movie star, I have travelled far and wide across the country and have seen the conditions many Ghanaians are going through on daily basis trying to acquire one-square meals a day,” he claimed.

The current economic conditions he said, has led to job losses and high unemployment rate, poor healthcare provision and cutthroat utility bills.

He said he “is deeply troubled by the direction this country is going.

“I have personally sat back and monitored critically how things are going and felt the need to join the crusade for change in the political administration of this country,” he said

For him, the change in the direction of the political leadership is the only surest way the country can see development and progress.

According to him, a “thorough research” he carried out of prices of goods and services has showed astronomical increment compared to the era of the John Kufuor-led NPP administration

“Now the ordinary Ghanaian cannot afford basic items like Milk, Sugar, Rice, Bread and other household commodities…I challenge anyone who disagrees with me to do his or her own checks from the markets to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of this sad situation,” he said

Agya Koo has meanwhile explained that his decision to embark on this campaign is not to engage in “political stunt”.
