Alajo District COP holds peace games with other churches

The Church of Pentecost, Alajo District in collaboration with Churches within the Alajo vicinity has held variety ‘Peace Games’ to promote peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.

The event held on Saturday October 15 at the Tesano police depot park saw massive participation from the Apostolic Church of Ghana, Assemblies of God and Caprice Keep fit club.

The Member of Parliament of Ayawaso Central Constituency Henry Quartey, the NDC parliamentary aspirant for the area William Affum Ani-Adjei and several other dignitaries took part in the exercise.

The peace games is part of The Church of Pentecost nationwide peace campaign dubbed “Agent of Peace”.

Mrs. Gina Paddy who spoke on behalf of the Alajo District Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost emphasized on the need for Ghanaians to ensure peaceful environment in this electioneering season. Stressing on the importance of peace, she noted that a peaceful election is not dependent on one group alone but on all and sundry.

The women ministry made a humble appeal to politicians to go the extra mile to ensure that the upcoming general elections is conducted under a peaceful , free and fair atmosphere in order  to maintain the peace currently being enjoyed in the country.

Women were encouraged to speak to their children and husbands about the need for them to be agent of peace as well as preach peace to their families and persons in their neighbourhood.

The District Pastor, Rev. Peter Yanney encouraged all to pursue peace and be bold agents of peace at all times. In his statement, he said peace is not sold at the market place but achieved through individual efforts.

He based his exaltation on Psalm 34:14 and Hebrews 12: 14-15 and reminded the gathering that peace can only be found in Jesus alone.

Ms Charity Afriyie, a physically challenged person appealed to Ghanaians to help maintain peace in the country since the physically challenged are the most vulnerable and affected during war.

The participants took part in games such as soccer, ampe, skipping and many more.
