Angela Bassett to be honored at 2023 Oscar

The two-time Oscar-nominated actress, Angela Bassett will receive an honorary Oscar at the 2023 Governors Awards.

The honorary was announced on Monday, June 26, 2023, by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and according to AMPAS, the award will be presented to Bassett for her “extraordinary distinction and exceptional contributions to the film industry.

Bassett has starred in some of the most iconic films of the past few decades, including “Black Panther,” “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” and “Malcolm X.” She is also a well-known television actress, having starred in shows such as “American Horror Story” and “ER.”
