BET Hip-Hop Awards 2023: Black Sherif earns nomination for ‘Best International Flow’

Ghana’s music star Black Sherif set another milestone after he earned a nomination at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards in the highly competitive Best International Flow category.

The prestigious award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Atlanta on October 3, 2023, and promises to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop culture.

Cardi B and 21 Savage lead the nominees for the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards with 12 nods each. The two stars are going head-to-head in seven categories – best collaboration, lyricist of the year, hip-hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, best hip-hop video, sweet 16: best featured verse and song of the year.

Black Sherif will compete with talented rappers from different countries, including three fellow Africans: AKA (late) and K.O from South Africa, and Zimbabwe’s Sampa The Great. Other nominees hail from around the world, such as Gazo from France, Central Cee and J Hus from the UK, Major Rd and Ninho from Brazil, and Tasha & Tracie, also representing Brazil.

While this marks Black Sherif’s second consecutive nomination in the same category, his consistent impact in the global hip-hop scene is undeniable. Last year’s award Black Sherif lost the ‘Best International Flow’ Award to the Gabonese rapper Benjamin Epps, but this year, Black Sherif aims to secure the recognition he deserves.

Adding to his recent achievements, Black Sherif was adjudged as the Best West African Artist at the just ended 16th Headies held in Atlanta, USA, solidifying his rising prominence in the music industry.

This nomination not only reflects his individual success but also underscores the increasing influence of African artists worldwide.
