Guinness World Records: Chef Faila ends cook-a-thon attempt after remarkable 227 hours

Chef Abdul-Razak Failatu commonly known as Jah Bless Failatu may have set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooling marathon, after remarkable 227 hours of continuous cooking.

She has exceeded the current record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irish Chef Alan Fisher set last year after breaking Nigerian’s chef Hilda Baci’s 93 hours.

Chef Failatu’s journey began at midnight on January 1, 2024, with the aim to finish on January 5 but extended the cooking marathon to January 10, earning admiration from patrons and Ghanaians.

She has cooked a wide range of mouth-watering local Ghanaian and continental delicacies comprising of; jollof rice, braised rice, banku, tuo zaafi, fufu, rice balls, among others, with a variety of soups.

Some of her mouth-watering foreign delicacies include; pancakes, waffles, samosa, spring rolls, baked pastries all kinds of salads and so on.

Chef Faila has since dished out over 600 plates of food with about 150 plates dedicated to orphanage homes and street children.

The city of Tamale in the Northern Region went into a state of frenzy with support for Chef Failatu, with dignitaries, celebrities, and influential figures rallying behind her.

Notable attendees included Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, and former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu.

The record is yet to be officially confirmed by Guinness World Records.
