I invested almost $180,000 in ‘Rhythms of Africa’ concert production – Sonnie Bandu discloses

Multiple award-winning UK-based Ghanaian artist and performer Sonnie Badu recently disclosed the amount of money invested in his successful ‘Rhythms of Africa’ concert, a significant cost of almost $180,000 [GHS 2,145,681].

Rhythms of Africa in collaboration with George Quaye’s Image Bureau, has a resounding success, with the event selling out completely.

Speaking in a recent interview on Okay FM, Badu denied rumours suggesting that he sold his Rolex watch solely for the event, clarifying that the expenditure surpassed that amount.

Despite the excitement and longstanding relationship with some folks who promised support let him down, making things tougher, he specifically mentioned Dr. Kweku Oteng, who had committed to support but later turned down his calls or messages.

Badu expressed frustration, shedding light on the challenges encountered by gospel musicians in securing financial backing for such events.

On December 9, 2023, the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) pulsated with excitement as it hosted the biggest gospel musical event of 2023 so far, showcased his dedication to delivering a remarkable musical experience, despite facing financial hurdles and unmet sponsor commitments.
