Leaked intimate video: I underestimated the extent of my influence – Serwaa Amihere says in apology

Broadcast journalist Serwaa Amihere has issued a public apology to her family, employers, and loved ones after an intimate video of her surfaced online earlier this month.

The video, which shows her in bed with a man known as Henry Fitz, led to trolling online and calls for her job termination

In her statement, Amihere explained the circumstances surrounding the video’s leak, offering apologies to those affected. She revealed that the video was recorded five years ago and was released five months after she received threats and experienced extortion.

Amihere acknowledged the embarrassment and frustration caused to her employers, businesses, and brands she represents, expressing regret for underestimating her influence and potential.

“The video (which was made 5 years ago) has severely embarrassed me, my family and my loved ones. It has also exposed my employers, and the businesses and brands I represent to embarrassment.

“Additionally, the video has been a source of frustration to all who have been my support, inspiration, and encouragement throughout my journey in the media.

“At the time, 5 years ago, I considerably underestimated the extent of my influence, my potentials, what I would become, and what I would come to represent to this society,” the statement reads.

She apologized for any harm caused to her family, employers, loved ones, and represented brands, expressing sincere regret for the situation.

“Sincerely, I say sorry for the embarrassment, disappointment, and frustration which this matter has caused to my family and loved ones, to the distinguished businesses and brands I represent, and to you.”
