0

Nollywood star Rita Dominic recently opened up about her hiatus from acting, sharing the reasons during a speech at the 2024 Women of Valour Conference in Accra, Ghana.
Rita shared that in 2002, she decided to step away from stardom and moved to the United Kingdom due to personal issues. In London, she took on the role of a caregiver for adults with special needs to make ends meet during a challenging period in her life.
Despite potential perceptions of it being a “step-down,” Rita emphasized that caring for others brought her joy and purpose, adding a unique chapter to her life’s journey.

“In 2001/2002 I stopped acting. I left the [movie] industry and moved to London because it was a very dark period in my life. I fell out with some friends I considered family. And I just gave up acting for a while. I needed to get out of that space for a minute.

“And then I moved to London and gave up stardom. You won’t believe this, this is something I’ve never told people before. While in London, I was trying to make ends meet so I started working in a care home as a caregiver for adults with special needs. While some might view it as a step-down, I don’t. Taking care of others brought me joy and purpose at a time I needed it most,” she narrated.

Why Mr Logic is suing Lilwin

0

Ghanaian artist manager Mr. Logic, professionally known as Emmanuel Barnes, is taking legal action against Kumawood actor Lilwin for defamation.

The feud originated when Lilwin publicly accused Mr. Logic of consuming a “weed toffee.” Mr. Logic strongly refuted the claims in an interview with Hit FM’s Andy Dosty, highlighting the potential harm to his professional reputation.

The dispute appears to stem from Mr. Logic’s questioning of Lilwin’s decision to cast Nigerian actors in the unreleased film ‘A Country Called Ghana.’ Speaking on February 22, 2024, Mr. Logic expressed concern about prioritizing Ghanaian actors and stories to uplift the local industry, rather than featuring Nigerians for commercial purposes.

“It’s a good one because of the agenda to get onto Netflix. But to continue doing the same thing for commercial purposes, I don’t think it’s advisable. The Ghanaian movie industry is still under the carpet. So it’s best if he lifts up the industry by lifting up young talents like Fifi Coleman is doing.

“Why are you making a movie named “A Country Called Ghana” and featuring Nigerians in it? We should put Ghanaian actors and stories first, stories that connect with our people,” he said. “It’s about uplifting our own,” he said.

Lilwin’s response to Mr. Logic’s criticism was characterized by insults and teasing, escalating the tensions between the two figures in the entertainment industry.
The legal action initiated by Mr. Logic emphasizes the gravity of such accusations within the entertainment industry.

Reasons Behind Ghana’s Lack of Progress Exposed: “We Have Blood on Our Hands”, says Prophet Kofi Oduro

0

The leader and founder of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, recently voiced his concerns about Ghana’s lack of progress despite 67 years of independence.
He connected the lack of progress to the nation being marred by the blood of the innocent. In a church service, Prophet Oduro spoke to the congregation about the sorrowful passing of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, conveying a somber sentiment.

“A nation that is 67 years is ready to poison people to death. They’re ready to do so. What are they looking for? Power. How sure are you about that power? Who said you will win the next election? Who said NPP will win the next election? It is God who makes leaders.”

The religious leader continued to condemn political violence, pointing out its impact on families and chastising those orchestrating harm to politicians. He urged caution, stating, “You are already killing people’s fathers and their husbands? Look at the pain you have caused this young lady pastor. The wife of the MP is a woman of God. You went to touch the anointed of the Lord when the Bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”

Prophet Oduro continued to emphasize how petty politics and the targeted killing of politicians have negatively impacted Ghana’s economic struggles and developmental hurdles. He referenced historical figures like J.B. Danquah Adu and J.B. Danquah senior, portraying them as victims of political violence.

He expressed his frustration, stating, “I’m telling you why up till today, Ghana is crawling. There is blood on our hands; blood of innocent people, including J.B Danquah Adu, J.B. Danquah senior, and the blood of our fathers who we kill by petty party sentiments, political sentiments. You kill somebody’s husband. And it’ll shock you that the people that are writing ‘oh honorable rest in peace’ are the masterminding orchestration behind the honorable.”

Prophet Oduro concluded his sermon with a stern warning: “Be very careful because if you’re not, you can die.”

Meanwhile, Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late John Kumah, rejected rumors of poisoning in an interview with Accra-based Asaase radio. She expressed frustration over false claims made by individuals, including Captain Smart, and questioned why such individuals were not held accountable for spreading misinformation.
