I was controversial because I wanted to be more famous- Adu Safowah confesses

Media personality, Regina Adu Safowah has disclosed her involvement in past negative publicity as a deliberate attempt to sustain her fame and relevance.
During an interview on Asaase FM, she explained, “I wanted to be more famous, and I realized that controversy and negativity sell easily.”

Safowah emphasized her voluntary entry into this world, driven by a desire to consistently be in the news, especially after her ambassadorial deals.

“That is one of the reasons why I found myself in that world, and secondly, it is something that I did willingly; I wasn’t pushed, nobody forced me. I realised that when you go on the internet, negativity sells.

“When there’s a little negativity, almost every blogger is posting and at the time after my ambassadorial deals, I just wanted to always be in the news. That’s why I went for the controversy, but when I sat back after years; the regret was everything,” she shared.

Reflecting on her choices, Safowah expressed regret, acknowledging that her pursuit of controversy had repercussions for her reputation. She has experienced falling out with various celebrities, including Mona Gucci, Xandy Kamel, Nana Tornado, and Nana Aba Anamoah.

Safowah explained that the prevalence of negativity on the internet played a significant role in shaping her choices. She openly admitted that the magnetic pull of staying relevant prompted her to actively seek controversy.

However, as time passed, she found herself grappling with regret over these intentional actions. The childhood dreams of engaging with influential figures such as Omotola and Genevieve Nnaji fueled her aspiration for fame. Unfortunately, the pursuit of this dream took an unexpected toll on her public image.
