The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has denied media reports that fuel prices have increased by 11% in the country describing the publications as “false”.
In a statement the NPA said it is “encouraging consumers and the media to check on the price board of retail stations to determine the true prices of fuel on the market and not rely on the data from any group of persons who purport to project fuel prices which always turns out to be poor and inaccurate.”
The week began with speculations that fuel prices were expected to go up between 8% – 11% across board by end of week.
But the NPA in its denial statement said “consumers and the media should check with the NPA’s website or the bi-weekly publications of retail prices of OMC’s published in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times and the Gazette by the Assembly Press for accurate information on the retails of fuel by OMCs.”
It is however unclear whether the denial is preceding an announcement to be made later by the authority.
