Okyeame Kwame speaks against the mistreatment of homosexuals in Ghana

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur, Kwame Nsiah Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, has spoken out against the mistreatment of homosexuals in the country, emphasizing the need to end such senseless behavior.

Speaking in an interview with host Caroline Sampson on Asaase Radio, Thursday, June 16, 2023, the ‘Woso’ hitmaker, opined that it was wrong to abuse members of the gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI+) community, explaining that they too have rights.

”I think that it’s completely wrong to beat LGBTQ+ people because you find two men kissing somewhere and you take cameras and video them, and put them on social media for shaming,” he stated.

‘Rap Docta’ further asserted that although he is not against the activities of the LGBTQ+ community, it is up to the nation to determine whether it wants to legalize gay rights.

“But the issue of whether it should be accepted into our culture or not, I think the nation must decide. It is completely wrong to beat a dog, cow, your child, a thief, LGBTQ+ it is violence, ” he hammered.

“Based on my concept of love, I see that they [LGBTQ+ people] are suffering a lot and we should cut them slack when it comes to those silly things we do to them,” he added.
