Glitteratie, dripping in her funky swagg, declared that Wale, with his genre-bending beats and infectious energy, has the potential to be Ghana’s biggest musical export, EVER. But here’s the plot twist: according to Glitteratie, Wale is his own worst enemy.

She spilled the glitter-infused tea, claiming that Wale, with his “unnecessary roadblocks,” is sabotaging his own greatness. Like, girl, what kind of roadblocks are we talking? Unreleased bangers gathering dust in a digital vault? Beefs with every blogger in a 50-mile radius? Cancelled concerts that leave fans fuming like a pot of jollof gone wrong?

We don’t have all the answers, but Glitteratie’s not here to play detective. Her message is clear: Wale, step outta your own way! The world needs your music, your fire, your unapologetic swagger. Unleash the magic, Wale!

Now, before you hit the comment section with your thinkpieces and stan wars, let’s marinate on Glitteratie’s words. Is she just stirring the pot, or is there truth to her gems? Does Wale need a celestial intervention to unlock his full potential, or is he the king of his own kontroversial castle?

GFA sacks Chris Hughton, dissolves technical team after Ghana’s exit at AFCON 2023

0

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties.

The decision was taken after the Black Stars crashed out of AFCON 2023 without a win in their three group games.

The GFA’s statement, published four hours after Ghana’s early exit from the tournament in Ivory Coast was confirmed, added that the technical team had also been dissolved.

The FA said it will, in the coming days, “provide a roadmap on the future of the Black Stars”

Hughton was appointed in February 2023, replacing Otto Addo whose contract with the men’s senior national team expired after the 2022 World Cup.

He was tasked with overseeing the remainder of Ghana’s qualifiers for AFCON 2023, taking the team to the tournament in Ivory Coast, as well as supervising the start of the Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Prior to taking over as head coach, Hughton was named as the Technical Adviser of the Black Stars, ahead of the two-legged playoffs for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria, remaining in the role for the Qatar tournament.

Hughton oversaw 13 matches as Black Stars head coach, with a record of four wins, five draws and four losses.

In nine competitive matches, Hughton’s side picked up three wins, two losses and four draws.

The Black Stars’ performances under the former Brighton, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest manager have earned as much scrutiny as the results, culminating in the disappointing AFCON 2023 showing.

His selections and management of games have often been questioned by fans and pundits.

Following a loss in the opening match to Cape Verde and draws with Egypt and Mozambique, Ghana exited the AFCON for the second straight edition at the group stage.

Hughton accepted responsibility for the poor performances in the Ivory Coast.

“I take responsibility for this performance and admit my results with the Black Stars have not been good enough,” he told the media after Monday’s 2-2 draw with Mozambique.

The Black Stars will now have to regroup after the latest disappointment, with rumours of two international friendlies being planned for March against world champions Argentina and China.

They will then turn their attention back to the World Cup qualifiers which return in June, with matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Desmond Nana Ofori Asiamah writes; Assessing the Disappointing Performance of the Black Stars at AFCON 2023

0

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is a highly anticipated tournament that showcases the best of African football. However, the performance of the Ghanaian national team, known as the Black Stars, during the AFCON 2023 has been nothing short of abysmal. In particular, the match against Mozambique stands out as a prime example of their disappointing display. This analysis aims to delve into the reasons behind their poor performance and shed light on the areas that need improvement.

Lack of Cohesion and Teamwork: One of the glaring issues during the Ghana vs Mozambique match was the lack of cohesion and teamwork among the Black Stars, despite having notable names like Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Abdul Samed Salis, Majeed Ashimeru, and Chris Hughton as the coach. The players seemed disjointed, failing to establish a solid understanding on the field of play. There was a lack of coordination in both defense and attack, resulting in missed passes, poor decision-making, and an inability to create meaningful scoring opportunities.

Ineffective Midfield: The midfield, often considered the engine of a team, failed to deliver in this match, despite the presence of talented players like Mohammed Kudus and Majeed Ashimeru. The Black Stars’ midfielders struggled to control the game, maintain possession, and dictate the pace. Their inability to win crucial duels and provide accurate passes severely limited the team’s attacking potential. The midfielders seemed overwhelmed and were frequently outplayed by their Mozambican counterparts, leaving the defense exposed and the attack toothless.

Defensive Fragility: The defensive line of the Black Stars, including players like Andre Ayew, Alexander Djiku, and Abdul Samed Salis, was woefully inadequate during the match. The defenders appeared disorganized, often caught out of position, and failed to effectively mark their opponents. This allowed Mozambique to exploit the gaps and launch dangerous attacks. The lack of communication and coordination among the defenders led to defensive errors, resulting in goals conceded and putting the team on the back foot.

Inefficient Strikers: Despite possessing talented strikers like Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams, the Black Stars’ attacking line failed to make an impact. The forwards lacked the necessary sharpness and clinical finishing to convert the few chances that came their way. The strikers seemed isolated and struggled to create opportunities for themselves or their teammates. This lack of potency in the final third was a major contributing factor to Ghana’s inability to score goals and turn the tide of the match.

Lack of Adaptability: Another concerning aspect of the Black Stars’ performance was their inability to adapt to changing game situations, despite the guidance of coach Chris Hughton. The team failed to adjust their tactics or make effective substitutions when necessary. This lack of flexibility allowed Mozambique to dictate the flow of the game and exploit Ghana’s weaknesses. The coaching staff must shoulder some responsibility for this failure to adapt and make timely changes.

Conclusion: The Ghana vs Mozambique match during AFCON 2023 highlighted the abysmal performance of the entire Black Stars team, including notable names like Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Abdul Samed Salis, Majeed Ashimeru, and coach Chris Hughton. The lack of cohesion, ineffective midfield, defensive fragility, inefficient strikers, and the inability to adapt were all contributing factors to their disappointing display. To regain their reputation and achieve success in future tournaments, the Ghanaian national team must address these issues, improve their teamwork, enhance their tactical awareness, and work on individual skills. Only then can they hope to compete at the highest level and bring pride to Ghana our Motherland!

The incident unfolded as Mokeme and his crew were detained after being mistaken for carrying real firearms, underscoring the ongoing struggles faced by artists in the entertainment industry.

“I had a couple of brush-ins with the law. Back then, career-wise, entertainers always have brush-ins with the law. Why? Because first, we’re always moving at very awkward times of the night.

Either you’re just going to the gig or coming from the gig, but it always happens at very awkward times and what makes it very awkward is when they [police] ask you and you say you’re going to work.” He said

He continued, “That’s the problem, “Which work?”That’s always the problem, “Which work?” So you have to stop first, come down, because they’ll look at you and say “Which work?” then tell you to come down and explain yourself. So whether you’re alone or you’re two or you’re three, which works?

Chidi Mokeme is known for his roles in movies including ‘Saviour’, ‘Abuja Connection’, ‘Last Kobo’, ‘Back Drop’ and ‘Blood Battle’.
