I wanted to be an entrepreneur not a musician – Gyakie reveals

0

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian Songbird, Jackline Acheampong better known as Gyakie has disclosed that she never aimed to become a musician but rather an entrepreneur.

According to her, her dream of becoming an entrepreneur motivated her to pursue International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where her music career took off.

The “Forever” hitmaker recounted during an interview with Berla Mundi on The Day Show, how her career began after she had met her producer, Sosa on the KNUST campus through a friend.

“So before I got into the university because that’s where everything started for me. Before I went to KNUST I just wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to get money so I studied International Business in KNUST until I met my producer, Sosa on campus through a friend,” Gyakie revealed.

Gyakie adds that shortly after their initial meeting, Sosa sent her a beat, which ended up becoming her first single on streaming platforms. She became aware of her songwriting ability as soon as she began to listen to the beat.

“Never Like This,” a song she wrote, was made available on music streaming platforms for the first time.

The fast-rising musician has since released a series of hits including “Something” and his recent song “Rent Free” which is already making waves across social media platforms.

SZA leads 66th Grammy nominations with 9 nods

0

American singer SZA is the lead contender for the 66th Grammy Awards, with nine nominations announced on Friday, November 10.

“Kill Bill,” her revenge anthem cloaked in an R&B ballad, earned her nods for record of the year, song of the year, and best R&B performance. “SOS” is also up for album of the year and best progressive R&B album. The 2024 ceremony will mark the second time SZA has been nominated for record, album, and song of the year in the same year.

And just like at the box office, “Barbie” will be seen — and heard — at the Grammys. Music from the hit film’s soundtrack earned 11 nominations, including nabbing four of the five slots in the visual media song category.

If there is an overall trend in the 2024 nominations, it’s that female acts outperformed their male counterparts. The majority of leading nominees are women and include superstars like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo. In both the record and album of the year categories, the only man represented is Jon Batiste.

Google issues three-week warning to G-mail account users

Google has issued a three-week warning to the users of G-mail accounts about a clean-up exercise that could see their e-mails, documents, photos and videos permanently deleted.

Google has issued a three-week warning to the users of G-mail accounts about a clean-up exercise that could see their e-mails, documents, photos and videos permanently deleted.

Google while issuing the warning to users said in a statement that it will delete millions of Gmail accounts in December.

The company also said that this is one of the parts of a major update to the platform.

“The purge will impact all personal Google accounts that have been left dormant for at least two years, with emails, documents, spreadsheets, calendar appointments, photos and videos all permanently deleted,” the statement read.

According to Google, the policy had been introduced earlier this year but it will come into effect in December 2023.

“We are updating our inactivity policy for Google Accounts to two years across our products,” Google’s vice president of product management, Ruth Kricheli, had written in a blog post earlier in May 2023.

“This update aligns our policy with industry standards around retention and account deletion and also limits the amount of time Google retains your unused personal information.”

The company added that it is taking this step to protect active Google users from security threats such as phishing scams and account hijacking.

According to Google, old G-mail accounts that have not been used for a number of years typically stand the risk of being hacked.

It said this is because they may use the same passwords that have been compromised in other security breaches, which could be easily found on the dark web.

“Any account at risk of deletion will receive multiple notifications before any action is taken,” Google said while including any associated recovery email addresses.

“We have already begun sending emails to those affected, telling users it is “to protect your private information and prevent any unauthorized access to your account even if you’re no longer using our services,” the tech giant stated.

“Losing access to a Gmail account could also potentially prevent people from using other online platforms and services that are associated with that email address, even if they are not related to Google.

“In order to keep an account active and avoid being deleted, Google users are advised to open or send an email, use Google Drive, download an app on the Google Play Store, or simply make a Google Search while logged in to the account.”

The tech giant, however, said that any G-mail account that has posted a video to YouTube does not stand the risk of being deleted regardless of when it was last active.

Cecilia Marfo tearfully ‘curses’ critics of her recent media outburst

0

Ghanaian musician, Cecilia Marfo, has lambasted persons who are criticizing her on social media after she cried on TV following the challenges her church is grappling with.

According to her, she said nothing wrong about the remarks she made during the interview with JoyPrime TV, which has generated controversy in the public domain.

The aggrieved gospel musician fumed at the nature of criticisms and insults directed at her on social media and warned that God will deal with such individuals accordingly.

Cecilia Marfo expressed her worry over the insults meted out to her and lamented that it would lead to people not attending her church and further deepen her woes.

“Even my outfits, people sew them for me freely. I don’t even buy stuff with my money. I walk barefoot to do the work of God, and you use one day to condemn me? There is a particular sister on social media; I won’t talk, but what will happen to her? The whole nation will get to know it.

“What have I done to you? Those of you who publish fake news about me and use an ugly picture of me, don’t you know it affects me? I am pained. Did I say something wrong? Don’t you know you are sacking people from coming to Christ?” she said in a TikTok live session.

Cecilia Marfo angrily said that individuals who are raining insults on her would soon cry in their lives because of the damage they have caused her reputation.

“There is someone on social media attacking me; God said I should tell you it is left with her small time. If I am doing the work of God, why would you sit on social media and insult me? The insults will turn into cries for those insulting me on social media. Those generate revenues by saying fake things about me on social media. Why do you want me to stop following God? God will deal with all those making false claims about me on social media,” she fumed.

This, comes after Cecilia Marfo was subjected to vehement criticisms after she cried uncontrollably on Live TV, accusing Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong, and Diana Asamoah of the difficulties her church is going through.

Cecilia Marfo blamed Diana Asamoah and Kennedy Agyapong’s criticisms of her church practices such as spitting in people’s mouths and others contributed to the downfall of her ministry.

Netizens on social media were not in support of her claims and chided her for indulging in practices that were not worth the image of Christ.
