I refused to pray for Ghana so all my prophecies will come to pass – Owusu Bempah

0

The Head Pastor and Founder of the Glorious Way Chapel in Accra, Ghana, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah has surfaced again declaring that the 32 prophesies he proclaimed on the 31st night of 2015 would all come to pass.

According to the fourth prophecy, the nation will experience a number of fire outbreaks. This could be tied to the several fire outbreaks in January with most of them occurring in the Ashanti Region.

His fifth prophecy noted that the Ashantis would be in mourning cloth. It is not clear if that has anything to do with the death of the chief of Bantama, Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V who was a prominent chief in the Ashanti kingdom. The death was announced today.

Per his prophecy number thirteen, strange diseases shall bedevil the land, and so far, there is an outbreak of two forms of meningitis which have already claimed 37 lives with almost 200 admitted cases across six regions. This appears threatening enough since it started from a small community, Brohani in the Brong Ahafo region, gaining roots in seven district already there.

Speaking to Onua News, Prophet Owusu Bempah said these prophesies are coming to pass because he refused to pray about them, adding that he did nothing about because he was embittered by comments by Ghanaians, including some men of God, when he gave out the 32 prophesies.

Sarkodie sued for Russia no-show

0

Multiple award-winning hip-life artiste Sarkodie has been served a writ by an Accra High Court for failing to show up at an all-expenses paid show in Russia.

According to the writ served last Friday at the instance of Lawrence Ampene Larson Darko, a Russian-based Ghanaian DJ, Sarkodie known in private life as Michael Owusu Addo failed to turn up at the Moscow show though having received a commitment fee of €4,000.

Sarkodie instead of an agreement to apply for a Russian visa in Ghana did so in France and was consequently denied, causing the cancelation of the show originally scheduled to be held on November 7.

According to the plaintiff, failure of Sarkodie to make it to the show was “self-induced and was as a result of his negligence and that if the Defendant had put in the visa application in Ghana, he would not have been denied the visa”.

The plaintiff, who is also a student in Russia, is demanding $11,656 for various sums incurred in preparation for the show.

Wisa to appear before police on Monday after securing bail

0

New hiplife artiste Wisa is scheduled to appear before the Accra Regional Police Command on Monday, December 28 as part of his bail conditions.

The ‘Ekiki Me’ hitmaker – known in private life as Eugene Ashie – secured a bail last Saturday after making a first appearance before the Command over his “indecent exposure” on stage.

Wisa had shown his manhood during a live stage performance at the ‘Decemba 2 Rememba’ concert held at the Accra International Conference Center last Thursday.

The budding musician has since apologized for his “rash and irresponsible” behavior, though.

“I have disappointed myself, my family, my hardworking management team, Citi FM and the audience, who paid hard-earned money to be entertained but instead went away feeling anything but entertained,” he wrote.

The organizers, Citi FM, have since condemned the act, which is said to be against the country’s criminal code.

I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I prayed before D2R – Wisa opens up on TV3

0

Hiplife artiste Wisa Greid, who has come under a barrage of attacks from moralists for exposing his peter during a live stage performance, continues to ask for forgiveness from his fans especially the loyal ones.

“I want people to give me another chance…so I can prove myself,” he said on TV3’s New Day on Monday, December 28.

Known in private life as Eugene Ashie, Wisa who is currently on police bail for “indecent exposure”, said he did nothing untoward ahead of the Decemba 2 Remeba concert contrary to perceptions that he had been “high”.

According to him, he neither drinks nor smokes and even prayed before getting onto that big stage.

He said what may have triggered such a “big mistake” was the excitement that greeted him from the audience packed in the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) venue.

“I think it was too much of excitement.”

He also refuted claims that his act was a publicity stunt, saying he had been billed for another show – the Rapperholic concert – the next day and would not have done anything to affect his fortunes.

The ‘Ekiki Me’ hitmaker said he is now concentrating on community service to “clean up all this mess”.

Mr Ashie says he has to see to the end of his case with the police as he is scheduled to report at the Accra Regional Command on Monday.

2-wk training on seed testing held by UNIDO’s TCB programme

0

The National Seed Testing Laboratory (NSTL) of the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD) under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has benefited from a two- week training programme in Seed Purity Testing and Other Seed Determination.

The training was facilitated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO)’s -Trade Capacity Building (TCB) Programme.

The training was to prepare samplers and analysts of the laboratory to perform their work in compliance with the requirements of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) rules and standards as part of their preparation for accreditation to the ISTA standard.

Trainer and International Seed Purity Expert, James Kefa Oganda, said that participants of the two-week training will now be able to satisfy quality management systems requirements in seed purity testing.

Laboratory Manager Veronica Nipaah Foster expressed gratitude to the UNIDO-TCB team for the two weeks intensive training.

“The training has helped changed the entire set up of the laboratory,” she said.

National Technical Expert for the UNIDO -TCB Programme Abena Safoa Ofori encouraged participants of the training workshop to keep practising with the new methods using the standardised equipment supplied by UNIDO to keep the expertise imparted to them.

The training for the National Seed testing Laboratory is part of ongoing initiatives by the UNIDO Trade Capacity Building Programme funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to improve laboratory testing capacities in the country.

Ghana Gas to continue production after insurance expiration

0

The Ghana National Gas Company has refuted claims that it is due to shut down its operations by December 25 due to an expiration of its insurance policy.

“Ghana Gas has no intention whatsoever in shutting down on the 25th of December. We’ve not announced to anybody, we’ve not communicated that to anybody,” its Corporate Communications Manager at Ghana Gas, Alfred Ogbamey told TV3’s Rabiu Alhasan.

He described as “false assertion,” the reports which triggered concerns over a possible intensification of the electricity crisis which has caused lives and negatively affected businesses across the country.

It was feared a total of 220 megawatts of electricity power could be knocked off the national grid since Volta River Authority would not be getting the natural gas required to produce that amount of power.

It emerged after a crunch meeting between the Ghana Gas and the Energy and Mines committee of parliament that former’s insurance policy would expire by December 25 and that it does not have enough funds to renew the policy.

But Mr Ogbamey said the assertion is false, saying “Our insurance cover has not expired…It expires on the 31 of December.”

On what the Company intends to do upon the expiration of the insurance, he said, “if we have money, we pay and get the insurance cover and continue or we continue without the insurance cover with all the attendant risk.”

Ghana Gas is currently starved of cash to renew the insurance cover and repair a faulty compressor due to the Volta River Authority’s huge indebtedness to the company, TV3 has gathered.

The VRA owes Ghana gas in excess of 187 million dollars for gas supplied, which Mr Ogbamey said the VRA has given some assurances to make payments before close of day December 24.

He said Ghana Gas expects just enough payment to renew its 2.5 million dollar insurance policy and 8 million dollars to replace a faulty compressor.

Dev’t plan on Greater Jubilee Full Field presented to Petroleum Minister

0

Minister of Petroleum Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has received the plan of development on behalf of the Government of Ghana in his office at the Ministry.

The collaborative effort between Tullow Ghana and Kosmos will see all wells produced through the current Jubilee FPSO vessel with the expansion of the existing subsea architecture to accommodate the additional wells required for economical exploitation of the discoveries.

The Greater Jubilee Full Field supported by GNPC is an integration of nearby Mahogany and Teak discoveries in the West Cape Three Points Block with the Jubilee Field.

Jubilee has been developed using a combination of water and gas injection for pressure support and sweep.

Mahogany will be developed via water injection only and Teak via gas depletion in the Development Case.

A statement released Edward Bawa on Wednesday said the gesture is in fulfillment of the Ministry of Petroleum’s 2015 Meet-The-Press Series undertaking that a joint Front End Engineering Design (FEED) was being carried out to determine the facilities needed for the integration.

Mr Buah stated then that both contractors had until the end of the year to submit the Greater Jubilee Full Field Development Plan.

It is in this regard that Mr Buah congratulated both contractors for delivering the PoD on time.

He also stated that the Ministry together with the Petroleum Commission and GNPC will review the entire document and if satisfied, an approval will then be granted.

Mr Lawrence Apaalse, Petroleum Director at the Ministry, explained that the Plan of Development is an integrated documented scheme designed to optimize the development and production of discovered hydrocarbon resources.

Mr Apaalse further added that a “PoD is needed to provide the legal, regulatory, economic and technical basis to guide both the state and investor in the processes involved with extracting oil and gas”.

Power Minister ‘should have been fired long time ago’

0

The Minister of Power, Dr Kwabena Donkor, should not be given the chance to voluntarily resign but should be fired, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has suggested.

The two-time presidential candidate said if he were President John Dramani Mahama, Dr Donkor should have been fired long time ago.

“We shouldn’t wait for him to resign. He should have been fired long time ago,” Dr Nduom stated on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, December 23.

The business magnate acknowledged the expertise of the Minister as regards energy and power issues but was concerned his utterances on assumption of duty gave him away.

“Kwabena Donkor is not an ordinary person. He knows energy [and] power. Why will he be rushing to say that Dumsor will be a thing of the past?”

The Power Minister is under pressure over his threat to resign by the end of 2015 if the power crisis is not solved.

But he has since given indication that the crisis cannot be completely solved by close of 2015.

The Founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) believes the president has given Dr Donkor too much time to be at post over his undertaking.

There’s been no loadshedding the past 3 days – Power Minister

0

Minister of Power Dr Kwabena Donkor has maintained that his undertaking to end the nationwide loadshedding by year end still holds.

He, however, pointed out that routine outages as a result of overload or repairs to power transformers may result in what Ghanaians have come to know as dumsor.

Therefore, he adds, that he has struggled for the past weeks to explain to Ghanaians the difference between loadshedding, which he promised to end, and dumsor.

Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM on Boxing Day, Dr Donkor, who is also Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, cited that evidence to fully fulfill his undertaking is clear in the fact that for the past three days, there has not been loadshedding anywhere in the country.

He said outages experienced in any part of the country within that period may be due to a reason other than loadshedding.

Ghanaians are awaiting the next move of the Power Minister as his self-imposed deadline to end loadshedding nears.

At a meeting with Parliament’s Government Assurance Committee over the week, Dr Donkor clarified that his deadline is “give or take” two weeks – from January 1.
