There’ll be no cover up – Minister assures as police probe killing at Maame Krobo

The Eastern Regional Security Council has assured family of a man, who was allegedly killed by a herdsman at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District, of swift and exhaustive investigations.

Over the weekend, reports indicated that some residents were planning a reprisal attack following the death of the young man.

A combined team of Military and Police were deployed to prevent the attacks and restore peace.

The Eastern Regional Minister and Chairman of the Council, Seth Acheampong, who visited the affected family after meeting chiefs and opinion leaders, said no stone will be left unturned in the probe.

“The police administration has started serious investigations into the matter and so everyone should be rest assured. There will be no cover-ups. The investigation is going to be plain with the principles as enshrined in the police’s code of conduct. However, if found culpable, will be put squarely before the court. No one will be shielded.”

An early intervention from personnel of the Eastern Regional Police Command prevented the incident from escalating Friday evening as the police managed to convey the nomadic herdsmen from Mame Krobo to Donkokrom to prevent reprisal attacks.

Military officers were on Saturday morning flown in from Accra to assist the regional police command to manage the situation.

A scheduled briefing by the Police and the Military to calm the tempers of the aggrieved community members ended inconclusively as the youth are demanding justice.
