Kwaku Kyei-Darkwah, the son of Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Kwasi Kyei-Darkwah, popularly known as KKD led a trans rights march in England on Saturday, jULY 15, 2023.
The march was one of many held across Europe by the trans and intersex community in their quest for more rights and recognition.
Kwaku Kyei-Darkwah, who is a fashion brand sales executive and stylist, spoke to the crowd about the importance of fighting for trans rights.
He said that the trans community is often marginalized and discriminated against, and that it is important to raise awareness of their issues.
“We are not only walking so that we can stick it to everyone,” he said. “We are walking because we know we are fine. We are walking because we know we are divine. We are walking because we have rights.
We are walking because we know that we are building, and we are not going to stop.”
The son of the celebrated Ghanaian broadcaster also emphasized that the trans fight will continue unabated. “What you are seeing today is going to continue happening,” he said. “We will continue walking, we will continue marching, we will continue fighting. We will be on your airwaves, we will be on your TV screens. We are not going anywhere.”
His father, KKD, has been a vocal supporter of his son since he came out as gay in 2017. In a statement posted on Facebook, KKD congratulated his son for coming out and described him as “brave” and “courageous.”
The march in England was one of many held across Europe on Saturday. The marches were organized by the trans and intersex community in response to the growing number of anti-trans laws and policies being passed around the world.
The trans rights movement is gaining momentum, and the marches in England were a sign of the growing strength of the movement. The trans community is determined to fight for their rights, and they will not be silenced.
