Parliament is to meet the Electoral Commission on Wednesday over the Commission’s readiness to conduct this year’ parliamentary and presidential elections on November 7.

The EC is expected to prove to the Constitutional, Parliamentary and Legal Committee of the legislature that it is ready to conduct the elections on November 7 if parliament approves the constitutional amendment changing the election date from December 7 to November.

A member of the Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu who revealed this on 3FM Tuesday said the Committee at the end of the meeting with the Commission will present a report to the House for the members of parliament to decide on the proposed constitutional amendment.

On Monday, the Committee met with various stakeholders to solicit their inputs on amending the 1992 Constitution.

At the said forum,  issues were raised by some stakeholders including the New Patriotic Party about the preparedness of the Electoral Commission to successfully conduct the elections in November. The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers, CODEO has also raised similar doubts.
