The Attorney General’s Department has filed fresh charges against Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM 1), the Chief Executive Officer of the defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold Ghana Limited, and his other defunct firm Brew Marketing Consult.

The charges were filed at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, August 30.

The fresh charges, which bring the total number of charges against NAM1 to 39, include defrauding by false pretence, money laundering, and operating an unlicensed financial institution.

NAM1 and Menzgold are accused of defrauding customers of millions of dollars by promising them high returns on their investments.

The company collapsed in 2018, leaving many customers unpaid.

NAM1 is currently in custody and is facing trial on the previous charges. The fresh charges are likely to further delay his trial.

The Attorney General’s Department has said that the fresh charges are in line with its commitment to ensuring that NAM1 and his associates are brought to justice.
