Covid-19: 2 cases of Omicron variant recorded in Ghana – GHS

The Ghana Health Service has confirmed that two cases of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus have been recorded in Ghana on November 21, 2021.

The confirmation was disclosed by the Director General of the GHS, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye in Accra on Wednesday December 1.

The new variant has not yet been detected in the communities.

“There is the emergence of the new variant and I must say that through robust testing at the Kotoka International Airport, Ghana has detected the Omicron variant,” he said.

It is recalled that during a press conference last Sunday, Dr Kumah-Aboagye said the only way to protect the people against any variant of the virus is through vaccination.
