Don’t recall diplomats when there is change of govt – Awulae Attibrukusu

Diplomatic mission

The Vice President of the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Awulae Attibrukusu III wants a change in status quo where diplomats are recalled immediately the government that appointed them loses election.

Awulae Attibrukusu, who is also the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, was sharing his thoughts on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa on the governance system and development-related issues.

“We recall all our ambassadors and high commissioners moment after a party takes over from another government and it is not good,” he underscored.

Awulae III noted that “the person [envoy] would have made contacts that would help the nation. It can be business contacts, personal contacts, but the moment they are recalled after his/her government loses power, they sit on these contacts that could have helped the nation”.

The Paramount Chief of Lower Axim Traditional Area explained that “continuation of these foreign mission workers should be devoid of politics so those appointed to these places could work effectively to help the nation”.

NMC

Awulae II criticised the National Media Commission (NMC) for failing to crack the whip on erring media houses.

He was concerned about the growing insults in the media landscape.

He said whenever a chief makes a comment that is contrary to tradition, calls are made for the person involved to be sanctioned, “so why is the NMC not sanctioning the media houses that allow their channel to be used to propagate insults and tension in the country”.

Awulai III called on the media to be circumspect because Ghanaians have nowhere if the country is plunged into crisis.

NPP/NDC

The Vice President accused the political parties of being behind the insults in the media, and asked the political parties to rein in those who use offensive words in the media.
